Leyard offers an interactive visual journey at Hans Memling exhibition
A large NEV Led video screen Leyard, with pixel pitch 1,9 mm y 800 brightness nits, allows visitors to explore the works of painter Hans Memling in extraordinary detail, in this museum in Bruges (Netherlands).
The historical Museo Sint-Janshospitaal of Bruges offers an innovative digital experience which allows visitors to learn about the life and work of Hans Memling, Flemish painter of Dutch history, in the innovative exhibition Closer to Memling.
Inaugurated at the end of last year, This exhibition is configured as a interactive audiovisual journey, in which the latest technology is used Led Led Screens of Leyard to create an immersive environment in the medieval attic of the museum.
The project is based on a collaboration between Museums Bruges and the company specialized in digital experiences Ocular, who developed the concept and design of the facility, together with other creative partners.
After the success of other digital exhibitions in this museum, Ocular was tasked with transforming the building's historic attic into an attractive, accessible space that would attract visitors of all ages..
“In the ‘brainstorming’ sessions with the client, we define the design, the content and interactive elements -explains Nicolas Vanden Avenne, founder and CEO of Ocular-. “We created a full test facility where both adults and children could test the apps to ensure a smooth rollout.”.
With this approach, Vanden Avenne adds that “we were looking for a way to bring the story of the artist Hans Memling closer in an accessible way.”. “It was important to encourage people of all ages to go up to the museum's attic to better understand the life of this painter.”.
The heart of the exhibition is an impressive Leyard NEV1.9 Led Video Screen, of 4.5×4,5 metros, allowing visitors to explore Memling's masterpieces in extraordinary detail, while preserving the historic integrity of the building, eight hundred years old.
Robin van der Heiden, field sales manager de Leyard Europe, highlights the technological advantages of the installed system: “Our NEV series has very large cabinets, making it easy to install and create large format displays, like the ones we have developed for this project. We use a distance between pixels 1,9 mm so that visitors can get very close”.
The installed Leyard NEV display also offers a shine of 800 nits, providing a sharp large format image with vivid colors. In this room it was not possible to use projection solutions, so the Led technology of this manufacturer, especially bright, It was the ideal option for this project.
Besides, The exhibition highlights how cultural institutions can use advanced visualization technology to establish a meaningful connection between historical art and contemporary audiences.
“The biggest challenge was integrating the hardware as discreetly as possible into the monumental penthouse,” says Vanden Avenne.. Leyard's Led display immediately catches the eye, but does not interfere with the authentic elements. Everything has been installed with great care and integrates perfectly into the room”.
The combination of music, interaction, relaxation areas and the large LED screen “create a really engaging learning environment, especially for a young audience, an important target group we want to reach, points out Katrien Steelandt, E-Culture coordinator at Musea Brugge.
As technological partner of the project, Steelandt highlights that “Ocular has been by our side from the beginning to the end of the installation and beyond.”. When you have a bold idea that involves technology, is capable of turning it into a smart technical solution and a pleasant experience, and that makes working with them really great”.
Van der Heiden also points this out.: “Closer to Menling impressively demonstrates what can be achieved when technology providers and creative partners work together effectively. Thanks to the close collaboration with Ocular from the first planning phase, We were able to adapt our NEV1.9 Led solution specifically to this unique historic space. This collaborative approach allowed us fully meet both the technical challenges and the creative vision of the museum”.
