LBCC Esports Extron

The new esports facility at this California campus (USA.) uses AV control technology from Extron and its NAV Pro AV over IP for switching and distribution of game content.

As one of the largest community colleges in California, Long Beach City College (LBCC) Delivers digital learning environments, A wide range of technical educational programs, Academics and Professionals, as well as economic development and vocational training initiatives for its students.

This academic campus has a recognized program of esports, which now has a New Installation, to compete in the leagues National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) against more than six hundred colleges and universities across the country.

The core of this new esports facility is the Extron AV Control Technology and his NAV Pro AV over IP for switching and distributing game content.

Specifically, The center court has Capacity to 47 gamblers at gaming stations Dell Alienware. Coaches supervise and advise players from Five mobile stations that connect to the network using Extron Junction Boxes, located at the end of each team table.

One Voice-over booth, equipped with two 65" flat panel displays, It accommodates a production and voice-over team of two people for the management and monitoring of all the activity.

Designed and built by Californian companies HPI Architecture, P2S Engineering and EKC Enterprises, with the help of Extron and under the supervision of LBCC Multimedia Technologies staff, The new facility provides esports teams with information on the championship winners and their own playing field, which replaces the space that they previously had lent in a nearby institute.

"The design of the Extron AV control system for the esports facility met our requirement to keep things intuitive for users.", Explains Chris Greenwood, Long Beach City College Educational and Multimedia Technology Project Director.

The graphical user interfaces of the TouchLink Pro Touch Panels "They show maps of the gaming station rooms and clickable video screens," Greenwood said, which makes assigning game stations to teams, creating competition pairings and the arrangement of multiple video windows on the screens in the rooms is very natural for users, while the control system and the NAV Pro AV over IP network take care of switching and transmission between the scenes".

The large number of AV endpoints, with the possibility of increasing it over time, made the Extron NAV Pro AV over IP solution a logical choice. Adding more endpoints is as simple as connecting more encoders and set-top boxes to your network.

The ultra-low latency transmission of NAV over Ethernet 1 Gbps provides an important advantage to players during competitions, where it is imperative that they react quickly.

The NAV Encoders connect to the network from gaming PCs to PTZ Cameras, as well as other audio and video content sources.

The Scaling Decoders NAVs provide AV content from the network to numerous displays, with 4K resolution, Spread throughout the facilities, as well as streaming to Internet gaming platforms through OBS Studio.

The MGP Multi-Window Processors 641 xi allow the production team to create split-screen presentations of up to eight source windows on any computer, allowing the audience to stay focused watching the action of the games.
