LBCC trusts Extron NAV with the distribution of content for its eSports space
The new esports facility on this California campus (EU) uses AV control technology Extron and its NAV Pro AV over IP for switching and distribution of gaming content.
As one of the largest community colleges in California, Long Beach City College (LBCC) offers digital learning environments, a wide range of technical educational programs, academics and professionals, as well as economic development and vocational training initiatives for its students.
This academic campus has a recognized program of electronic sports, which now has a new installation, to compete in leagues National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) against more than six hundred colleges and universities across the country.
The core of this new esports facility is the Extron AV control technology and his NAV Pro AV over IP for the switching and distribution of gaming content.
Specifically, the center court has ability to 47 players on game stations Dell Alienware. Coaches supervise and advise players from five mobile stations that connect to the network through Extron connection boxes, located at the end of each team table.
A voice over booth, equipped with two 65” flat screens, accommodates a production and voice-over team of two people for the management and monitoring of all activity.
Designed and built by Californian companies HPI Architecture, P2S Engineering y EKC Enterprises, with the help of Extron and under the supervision of LBCC Multimedia Technologies staff, new facility provides esports teams with information on championship winners and their own playing field, which replaces the space they previously had on loan at a nearby institute.
“The design of the Extron AV control system for the esports facility met our requirement to keep things intuitive for users”, explains Chris Greenwood, Project Director of Educational Technologies and Multimedia at Long Beach City College.
The graphical user interfaces of the TouchLink Pro touch panels “They show maps of the play station rooms and video screens to click on,” Greenwood points out., what makes assigning play stations to teams, Creating competitive matchups and arranging multiple video windows on room screens feels very natural to users, while the control system and NAV Pro AV over IP network handle switching and transmission behind the scenes.”.
The large number of AV endpoints, with the possibility of increasing it over time, made Extron's NAV Pro AV over IP solution a logical choice. Adding more endpoints is as simple as connecting more encoders and decoders to the network.
The NAV ultra-low latency transmission over Ethernet 1 Gbps provides an important advantage to players during competitions, in which it is essential that they react quickly.
Los NAV encoders connect to the network from gaming PCs to PTZ cameras, as well as other sources of audio and video content.
Los scaling decoders NAVs provide AV content from the network to the many displays, with 4K resolution, distributed throughout the facilities, as well as streaming to Internet gaming platforms through Note Studio.
Los MGP multi-window processors 641 xi Allow production team to create split-screen presentations of up to eight source windows on any computer, which keeps the audience focused watching the action of the games.
