'The light of Saint Nicholas’ illuminates the historic parish of Valencia again
Designed and produced by Mediapro Exhibitions, This immersive experience can be seen again from 1 July. It is an innovative installation aimed at rediscovering heritage that offers a journey through three experiences: Tribute to beauty, he Heartbeat of Saint Nicholas y Lux ex orient.

It is an innovative permanent installation aimed at rediscovering heritage with a new perspective.. This milestone of engineering and digital creativity at the service of heritage offers an immersive journey through three experiences: Tribute to beauty, the Heartbeat of Saint Nicholas and Lux ex orient.
Tribute to beauty looks like a spectacular video mapping projected on the vault and the pillars of the central nave that exalts the baroque decoration and fresco paintings that have earned it the nickname of The Valencian Sistine Chapel.
The second experience is Heartbeat of Saint Nicholas. The history of the parish is presented in interactive totems that allow you to navigate through time and learn about its main milestones with original music and animations.
The third is Lux ex orient, a stained glass window of light that generates an experience of contemplation and reflection introduced by the symbols or attributes of the owner of the Parish, Saint Nicholas.
The La Luz de San Nicolás project has had a development of more than 9 months and has had the participation of a multidisciplinary team made up of more than 50 professionals of 28 different profiles.
Specifically, the project has required 83 installed technical equipment, 3 months of construction in the workshop, 640 installation hours and nightly programming, 200 hours of audiovisual programming, 390 hours of engineering work and 14 synchronized projectors.
Besides, technological development has meant 90 millions of light points scanned, 447.120 millions of projected points of light, 16,5 million pixels per frame, 3,8 billions of final pixels rendered and 1,5 millions of files generated.
As a prelude to its opening to the public, The light of Saint Nicholas was presented on Thursday to more than 200 representatives of the world of culture, tourism, the heritage, the institutions, the company and the Valencian civil society, that will be received by Antonio Corbí, parish priest of Saint Nicholas; David Xirau, CEO of Mediapro Xperiences; and Belén Gil, CEO of Global Menta, cultural space manager.
Transformative vocation
The Parish is one of the ten most visited monuments in Valencia, according to official data, and this permanent installation seeks to preserve and project the artistic legacy and message of Saint Nicholas. An essential visit monument in the city, that recovered its splendor in 2016 after the restoration works carried out thanks to the patronage of the Hortensia Herrero Foundation.
Global Menta, Valencian company specialized in cultural management, is responsible for the development of the project, contributing their experience in the creation of innovative cultural proposals.
Mediapro Exhibitions signs the design and technical execution of the installation, consolidating its trajectory in large-format museum projects at an international level.
This experience will be added to the cultural offering of San Nicolás, which has seven types of visits. The light of San Nicolás represents a determined commitment by the Parish to continue disseminating its historical heritage- artistic in a sustainable way, accessible and universal, aligned with the promotion strategies of the Valencian Community.
