Rocket Arena: world's first installation of MAD Maxx LPG luminaires
The home of the American basketball team Cleveland Cavaliers now has the world's first permanent installation of MAD Maxx CW wide beam LED floodlights. GLP, to create a unique and dynamic lighting environment on the court.
With capacity for 20.000 personas, the stadium Rocket Arena, basketball team headquarters Cleveland Cavaliers y Monsters, has trusted the lighting technology of the German manufacturer GLP to improve the atmosphere of matches and other events, according to the project specified by Eric Wade, creative director and vp. of Crossfade Design.
The novelty of the new system is that it is the world's first installation of the large wide beam Led reflectors MAD Maxx CW of GLP, with a wide light output 750 mm in diameter, which is adjusted by a iris virtual, and a color wheel that provides an additional layer of animation.
With more than ten years of service at Rocket Arena, The specialist Crossfade Design aimed not only to deal with the installation of some large volume luminaires, but to create a unique and dynamic environment.
The MAD Maxx CW LPG luminaires have eight large diameter beams that surround the entire field, with an expansion of 42,6 meters wide, and provide all the advantages of the classic 7K xenon reflector, but with a versatile and flexible effects library.
How does Wade assure, “It's the closest thing I've seen to the old Syncrolites. Let's add the frost filter when available and we can flood the entire track with it. With the Pixel mapping and color changing wheel, Mad MAXX CW will also provide a spectacular visual touch”.
The Crossfade design team also turned to specialist Matt Panther, of Reliable Truss, to custom design and build the mounting systems for these large luminaires, with a 20° inclined grate.
“When the structure tilts, the hinge that goes on it rotates with the light, so it stays level, regardless of movement. This is because all our modules are constantly angled”, explica Panther.
The external virtual programming from Crossfade headquarters allows them to run the program file remotely. “We only need a console and a bridge unit,” adds Wade., that can be connected directly to our equipment”.
