d&b creates a new category of compact point source loudspeaker with the U series
With three models available in both network and passive versions, This new concept of acoustic design that represents the U series of d&b audiotechnik provides optimal efficiency and directivity control to choose the best technical solution for each project.
The new series U of d&b audiotechnik supposes, as the company points out, “and Paradigm shift in multipurpose compact point source loudspeakers that redefines versatility and performance for this product category”.
It is new concept of acoustic design, with three models available in both network and passive versions, provides excellent efficiency and directivity control to give users consistent results across applications, as well as the confidence of choosing exactly the appropriate technical solution for each project.
The design of the U Series, modern and application-neutral, applies both in touring and installation configurations. Thanks to its discreet industrial appearance, no points rigging no visible handles, is integrated into the project respecting architectural or aesthetic restrictions.
They are construction, solid and robust, Made with high quality materials and finishes, It is especially suitable for applications touring and has quality accessories developed by d&b for this type of environments.
Uncompromising acoustic design
At the core of the U series is an electroacoustic design concept that makes no compromises. The bipolar bass speaker configuration extends vertical directivity control up to ±500 Hz.
All versions (network and passive) offer identical low frequency performance up to 55 Hz and incorporate the port design technology developed for the SL series, ensuring consistency across the range and performance support for non-subwoofer near-field applications.
Each model features a new waveguide trumpet set (patent pending), which can be rotated 90° without tools, with superior control of broadband high frequency dispersion and optimal off-axis behavior.
Network and passive models
The first models of the U series of d& audiotechnik include three passive speakers (U3, U5, U7) and equal number of hybrid topology network speakers (U3N, U5N, U7N). Both versions are physically and acoustically identical, allowing users to choose the perfect system architecture solution that meets the specific requirements of their project or event.
“With the U series we open a new chapter in the compact multipurpose point source loudspeaker category,” he explains. Santiago Alcalá Baillie, product manager speakers in d&b audiotechnik-. This new generation of speakers stays true to our adn and traditional values and, at the same time, also marks a important evolutionary step. Users can benefit from an impressive range of features and devices, classic and new, that offer high performance and innovation for your projects, regardless of the scope or application.”.
Freedom of integration and system architecture
Passive models integrate seamlessly into the amplifier ecosystem and workflow d&b Workflow industry standard. When used with the 5D amplifier or the new 5DM (the Milan-AVB version of the 5D), Users can choose between the raudio edes Dante and Milan or even combine them.
Passive models are perfect for applications where cost effectiveness and the number of amplifier channels are key, especially where the most suitable infrastructure is amplifier racks or when speakers are deployed in touring or outdoor environments. Networked versions offer an unprecedented level of freedom in audio system architecture, providing users with many configuration possibilities.
The network versions of the U series feature a hybrid topology DSP power module; operate on AC power and/or PoE++ on dual Milan and R1 networks, that offer power, signal and network redundancy, single cable operation, daisy chaining/grouping and even disconnected, controlled by an NFC app.
The U series has been designed to be efficient on all power sources. Whether powered by a d-amp&b, CA of PoE++, Users can expect consistent, professional audio SPL.
Network versions offer full SPL with less than 90 PoE++ Watts, making them perfect for projects that require advanced configurations and settings or multiple system architecture options.
The configuration of a Powerful one-cable solution (R1 + Milan + PoE++) requires the use of the new DN2 switch from d&b para Milan-AVB, which provides eight x ports 90 W PoE++. Additional options include third-party Milan PoE++ devices or PoE++ injectors for DN1.
Networked U Series models are the perfect choice for distributed audio systems or immersive applications, as d&b Soundscape, as well as for all projects where decentralization of power and DSP is essential for infrastructure reasons, budget or logistics.
Subwoofer plugin
As a complement to the U series, d&b has presented the new subwoofer stacked B10, bass reflex, 10” dual, compact and omnidirectional, Also available in both passive and networked versions to coordinate with all U-series models.
The passive version will be offered in two options: touring (B10) and fixed installation (Bi10). The network includes B10N, for touring applications, y Bi10N, for specific use in installation. The passive models of the U series, They will be available in the first quarter of 2026, and the network ones in the second.
The U series will make its official premiere in two imminent commercial events: NAMM Show 2026, of the 22 al 24 January in Anaheim (California – EU), where visitors will be able to learn about the new systems in the demonstration room 17102, and in WHEREAS from Barcelona (pavilion 7 – booth E190), of the 3 al 6 February.
