PPDS, together with the integration specialist Exaprobe and digital signage software partner Telelogues, combines its expertise to deliver low-power visual performance and remote management capabilities to more than 3000 Institute employees, with a fleet of 20 Sustainability-conscious Philips professional displays.

Digital Signage Screens Tableaux ePaper y EcoDesign of the serie 3000 have been selected to offer a perfect combination of high performance and low energy consumption to the biomedical research campus of the Pasteur Institute, of 50 000 m², in Paris.

Founded by Louis Pasteur in 1887, The Pasteur Institute is an internationally renowned non-profit research and education institute committed to the fight against infectious diseases in France and around the world. Awarded with 10 Nobel Prize winners and with more than 3000 employees, The Institute's colossal five-hectare campus has 39 independent buildings, including a conference center, and a total of 48 000 m2 of laboratory space.

With such a sprawling campus and visual technology playing an increasingly important role in its daily activities and communications, Pasteur Institute's AV/IT management team was looking to modernize its aging display infrastructure. After a thorough review of the site, The project would include a fleet of 20 dynamic screens, Strategically placed to meet a variety of needs, environments and lighting conditions, including reception rooms, meeting rooms, laboratories and more.

The project presented a number of unique challenges. Being a place of historical importance, with several listed buildings, It was essential to maintain the aesthetics during the modernization and ensure minimal inconvenience for staff. Besides, The screens had to meet the strict standards of the Pasteur Institute regarding electrical safety and durability, while providing greater energy efficiency to reduce your carbon footprint.

Romain Gentile, PPDS Key Account Manager, comments that “performance, legibility and energy efficiency were essential, since the screens disseminated scientific information, institutional and logistics. For the Pasteur Institute and the valuable work it does, there can be no kind of commitment”.

Effective communication

In collaboration with AV/IT integration specialists at Exaprobe, the award-winning screens “zero power” Philips ePaper Tables 32 inches y Philips Signage 3000 Series EcoDesign of 55 inches of PPDS were immediately identified as the only solutions capable of meeting, and ultimately overcome, the high expectations of the Institute.

The introduction of Philips Tableaux ePaper displays, ushering in a new era in visual communications and sustainability, was mainly selected, although not exclusively, to provide guidance information, like maps, campus information and other instructions, in order to help visitors navigate the facilities.

Completely portable and capable of functioning without connection to the electrical network, making them ideal for use in the Institute's older buildings and spaces with limited power supplies, Each Philips Tableaux display is capable of displaying full-color still images for days, weeks, months or even years without consuming a single kilowatt of energy. Philips Tableaux displays only need power during content updates, and each makeover consumes only 0,0025 kWh.

The Philips Signage series 3000 EcoDesign, in addition to offering high-impact 4K Ultra HD visual quality, with perfect performance down to the smallest detail, whether they are videos, pictures or numbers, allows screens consume less than 50 % of energy compared to other digital signage models on the market, without compromising performance.

It is also the first screen of its kind with cEPEAT Climate+ Gold certification, which measures the social and environmental impact of products from their extraction to the end of their useful life. The Philips Signage 3000 EcoDesign meets the most demanding criteria for sustainability leadership in the electronics sector.

Management 24/7

Tanto Philips Tableaux como Philips Signage 3000 EcoDesign Series are also part of the growing portfolio of PPDS integrated Android SoC displays, offering a wide range of features and benefits, including secure and seamless remote management capabilities with trusted partners.

To allow centralized management of the new fleet, the solution was selected and integrated Media4Display de Telelogos, PPDS partner, that provides supervision and management 24 hours of the day. This also allows Pasteur's technical team to schedule content in real time without having to scroll or manually update, further reducing your carbon footprint and costs.

The complete integration was carried out successfully and without interrupting research activities. Connectivity and content management tests were carried out on site, which ensured a smooth transition.

Franck Fromet, director of AV at the Pasteur Institute, points out that “The integration of our new Philips professional screens has allowed us to modernize our communication while respecting our environmental commitment. The PPDS teams understood our limitations and proposed a discreet solution, elegant and effective”.

Romain Gentile concludes by stating that “The Pasteur Institute now benefits from a modern and sustainable display system that adapts perfectly to its scientific environment. Information is disseminated more effectively, Content updates instantly and power consumption has been significantly reduced”.
