Complete IP video solutions provider IndigoVision has installed a 775 cameras in the Santiago de Chile metro, allowing the suburban to increase the speed of service throughout the network and improve the speed of response to incidents.

Santiago metro passengers can now travel with better safety and reach their destinations more quickly, thanks to a new monitoring system IndigoVision.

In the capital of Chile, The subway is the centerpiece of the public transportation system and more than two million passengers use it daily. Those responsible for the subway network were interested in preserving passenger safety and reducing the number of criminal incidents., so they worked together with Diebold Bitelco Chile, IndigoVision partner, to find the ideal solution.

The new system implemented has allowed the Santiago metro to increase service speed throughout the city's transportation network., through better organization of passenger transit between different stations. Besides, Improves the speed of response to incidents and added surveillance tasks at each of the stations. Security personnel have been able to track and arrest criminals, y también es posible analizar el movimiento de los pasajeros para garantizar la seguridad y la velocidad del tránsito.

In the words of Felipe Bravo Busta, deputy technical project coordinator of the subway system: “IndigoVision's solution has made it possible for us to have a safer metro in every way, that is to say, due to low crime and the lower risk of accidents occurring due to congestion. And even more important, “It allows us to transport passengers to their destinations more quickly”.

IndigoVision won the tender from the Santiago authorities for the quality of the system it can offer. The ability to search recorded images and easily identify incidents using advanced analytics technology was a deciding factor, in addition to keeping the cost of the solution within budget.

More than 800 cameras
The implemented system covers 43 stations. All cameras that were in use could be reused by connecting them to the network with video encoders 9000 de IndigoVision. Now there are a total of 415 fixed cameras and 406 with sweep control, tilt and zoom (PTZ) throughout the metro network.

The key to the successful functioning of the system was the decision to implement a distributed and scalable IP video solution. This IndigoVision architecture replicates configuration data throughout the system, so there is no need to install a central server.

On the other hand, network video recorders (NVR) de IndigoVision (43 which are standalone and one based on Windows) allow you to record video from cameras. Some backup NVRs were installed to automatically start recording in the event of any primary NVR failure..

Thanks to the installation of a fiber optic network 31 nodes in 20 City stations can transfer the data obtained to Control Center, the market-leading video management software offered by IndigoVision. Otra ventaja es el sistema de escalamiento de alarma integrado en el Control Center, ensuring that all incidents are recorded and relevant site staff are notified.
