Of the 22 al 30 June, The town of Peñíscola is going to remember that the Castellón municipality and its castle were a papal city with the organization of a series of events, among which is the lighting of the emblematic points of the walled city with Philips LED technology.

Philips and the Peñíscola city council are going to collaborate on the occasion of the celebration of the popular event “Peñíscola, Papal City. Philips LED technology will be the protagonist of decorative lighting, specially created for the occasion, of various monuments and buildings in the historic center of the monumental city: the main square, the facade of Our Lady of the Ermitana, the Fosc Portal, the Plaza de les Caseres, Artillery Park and the Castle patio. The interaction with citizens and visitors to the event will occur by combining various medieval theatrical acts with a light and sound show in the most emblematic buildings.. The history and culture of the 15th century will come together with 21st century technology to create a multi-sensory experience for the visitor..

This action is part of Philips' Livable Cities philosophy.. Taking into account that in 2050 two out of every three citizens will live in urban centers, great challenges arise for cities and their managers (politicians, technicians, urban planners service provider companies…). The promotion of cultural events that enhance local heritage is a cohesive element between citizens and their city., since the feeling of pride and belonging to it increases. At the same time, It represents an engine of economic activity derived from tourist visits.

LED technology: ally of designers and cities

LED lighting presents a series of benefits compared to lighting with conventional lamps used until now in this type of installations.. This technology provides great versatility and flexibility to both designers and architects as well as technicians.. LEDs allow you to play with color, the intensity, speed of change...creating dynamic environments adaptable to different needs. In this way, illuminated spaces are transformed into living elements that breathe light.

Besides, Other benefits stand out such as the significant reduction in energy consumption (can be up to a 80%), reducing maintenance costs, increasing useful life (around 60.000 hours), the greatest security, since they are based on low voltage technology... all without compromising the quantity and quality of the light offered.
