Singaporean media company MediaCorp has used a Harris InfoCaster digital signage solution to provide a digital signage system with information and advertising content to bus stops in this Southeast Asian city-state..

MediaCorp is rolling out digital signage on giant screens at Singapore bus stops. To ensure that each facility has current news, traffic and weather alerts, and varied and attractive advertising, The company has resorted to Harris for a unique digital out-of-home solution.

Harris has supplied an end-to-end Infocaster digital out-of-home solution. What makes the Singapore installation an innovative solution is the fact that the content is distributed to the screens through data channels in the Asian country's DVB-T digital television broadcasting system. This allows you to distribute the desired content to all screens., groups or individual sites in the air, without the need to install cables.

Thomas The, vice president of out of home media at MediaCorp, has explained: “When we won the LTA contract in Singapore for bus stops, Our business plan included digital signage in the busiest or high-traffic places. We wanted to have the system up and running as soon as possible, and Harris' ability to offer a complete package - including the ability to broadcast content over the air -, saves us the need to establish a new data infrastructure. This means we can offer our modern and creative solutions to advertisers., and be able to inform and engage the public as quickly as possible.”

The first phase of the project has already been completed, covering Singapore's Orchard Road bus stops and central business district. A second phase will be completed shortly, incorporating more bus stops and adding a shopping center to the system.

Harris' out-of-home digital solution incorporates all the elements necessary to manage a complex digital signage operation. InfoCaster Creator enables operations to acquire or create sophisticated digital content, and the InfoCaster player is the server that synchronizes and distributes the content to thousands of screens individually. The InfoCaster system also includes easy-to-use tools for scheduling and managing content., and to provide back-office functionality to sell, locate and contract advertising within the programming.

Harris Morris, presidente de Harris Broadcast Communications, has commented: “This is a great example of how Harris can bring proven experience across a wide range of applications to deliver a unique solution to fit a very specific challenge.. Our InfoCaster digital out-of-home system brings together our sales and programming expertise, graphics and servers that have been built over decades of working with the world's largest multimedia and entertainment companies.”
