A Sevillian company creates glasses that recreate historical scenes from the capital of Seville
The 'Past View' project, a look at the future, developed by the company Alminar Cultural Services, It is a sensory experience that allows a virtual journey through time through the city of Seville.. Thanks to 3D vision glasses you can see what the buildings were like, the shops, the streets and squares of the capital of Seville in the past and get to know the Muslim Isbiliya, Cervantes' Seville or the Port of the Indies, with characters of the time acting as cicerones.
The Sevillian company Minaret Cultural Services has developed the 'Past View' project, a look at the future, which consists of a portable device in the shape of glasses that recreates what a certain scene in Seville was like in historical periods and that simulates the customs and habits of characters of the time. The images are accompanied by an audio that explains to the user what they are seeing, and included, the visitor interacts with the characters of that period, that guide you and show all the details of what you are seeing, becoming part of History and immersing yourself in the past. These virtual reconstructions allow us to know what the spaces were like “in times past” globally, since it ranges from architectural recreation to characters “dressed in the style of the time”.
The device “handy and small in size” It has an autonomy of six hours and being so “simple” like glasses, is destined to “audiences of all ages”, as explained by the company manager, Jorge Robles. Besides, ‘Past View’ contains a GPS location application, that marks the itinerary to follow as well as other functions that “make it easy to make a tailor-made visit”.
Virtual recreation of the Seville of the past
The company has produced the virtual recreation of these spaces along with a specific computer program for viewing on the small screens located on the lenses of the glasses., and in which a web server wirelessly sends, (Wi-Fi), contents to devices. The digital process began with the documentation and analysis of space at a certain time, followed by a study to define the objects and the appearance of the characters in the scene, and architectural modeling in three dimensions, that focus on the generation of textures and lighting to achieve “an aspect of reality”.
‘Past View’ will be made available to all people who want to enjoy this unique experience starting in the fall of this year and Alminar, which has directed the production of its application to cultural tourism, plans to develop applications for the device in museums, health, education or architecture.
