Cognitec incorporates facial recognition for digital signage applications
Cognitec Systems, company specialized in the development of software solutions for the biometric sector, has launched an advanced version of its video screening system, FaceVACS-VideoScan, which now uses facial recognition technology to analyze people's faces and provide the most appropriate digital signage messages.
The video-projection product of the German company Cognitec Systems, FaceVACS-VideoScan, now uses facial recognition technology to analyze the count, the flow, the demographics and behavior of people visible in video sequences and digital signage. Since Cognitec technology can analyze a face by gender, age and ethnicity when people approach the camera, can trigger the display of a targeted message on digital signage or other advertising/messaging devices.
The product can detect and extract people's faces in live video streams or video recordings, and anonymous facial analysis can be used to count people, generate demographic information, track movement in time and space, detect frequent visitors, crowds and much more.
For example, Operators can receive an alarm if too many people gather in a given area and measure wait times to direct traffic. This analysis of traffic patterns and demographic statistics can provide businesses with the precise visitor data needed for interior design., advertising placement, personnel organization and other operational decisions.
The product also applies facial recognition technology to compare faces in image databases and instantly find known people. Companies and organizations can detect and prevent unwanted behavior much faster and more efficiently because operators can track people online, or receive alerts on mobile devices to act in the vicinity of a suspect.
On the other hand, FaceVACS-VideoScan can identify authorized persons or high-ranking clients in real time. Positive authentication can request access to restricted areas or alert staff to offer preferential treatment.
