The distributor of multimedia products, Macroservice, has added DFI's ultra-compact EC800 embedded system to its portfolio, the size of the palm of the hand, no built-in fan and powered by an Intel Atom N2800 processor at 1,8 GHz, being especially indicated in kiosk applications.

Ms235 Embedded System

Macroservice has announced the launch of the first ultra-compact palm-size embedded system from DFI what, integrating an Intel Atom N2800 processor 1.8 GHz (y chipset Intel NM10 Express), offers a low-power solution for embedded computing tasks. This fanless design is ideal for environments that demand a compact system equipped with extensive I/O and expansion capabilities., as happens in kiosk applications.

The DFI EC800 features high-speed interfaces to increase storage. The CFast shot, accessible from front panel, uses a SATA interconnect that speeds up reading / writing compared to traditional CompactFlash card with IDE interface. The possibilities increase with a Mini PCIe slot to install an mSATA module. The video processing capabilities integrated into the processor deliver high multimedia performance through the DVI-I interface., and the graphics engine supports full-HD and resolutions up to 1920×1200.

Wireless communications are important in in-vehicle solutions. For this reason, The EC800 supports Wi-Fi and 3G / GPRS via optional modules, and has a SIM slot and two holes for antenna mounting. When using two Intel Gigabit LANs, this embedded system with passive ventilation doubles network functionality, reduces CPU workload and, therefore, improves reliability in intensive applications.

Other features worth highlighting are DDR3 onboard memory 2 GB, rugged cordless assembly, two DB-9 ports with RS232/422/485 support and DIO 4 bit, four USB 2.0 and VESA mount & pared. The EC800 has a wide input voltage range of 9 a 24 V and can work with up to 36 V (via optional rechargeable battery pack) to ensure continuous connectivity and secure operation, even with extreme shock and vibration conditions on the road.

With dimensions of 161 x 32 x 108 mm and a temperature range of 0 a +60 °C (with extended option -20 a +70 °C), This slim, sleek design fits perfectly into any type of vehicle or space-restricted environment.
