Metaio will focus on insideAR 2013 to the growing augmented reality technology industry

German augmented reality software specialist Metaio organizes its annual insideAR event, one of the most prestigious in the world, in which the entire industry will concentrate around this innovative technology.

Focused exclusively on developments and innovations around augmented reality technology (AR, augmented reality) and its applications, the event insideAR brings together in its edition 2013, that will take place 10 and the 11 October at Munich's Olympiapark (Germany) to the most cutting-edge companies and experts in this technology.

Organized by Metaio, software solutions specialist with AR, It is one of the largest events in the world in this technology, that in its edition 2012 It attracted more than six hundred participants from more than forty countries around the world.

Chipset AR Engine

Besides, Metaio has managed to create the first accelerated augmented reality chipset on the market, called AR Engine, that in collaboration with ST-Ericsson, developer of wireless and semiconductor platforms, will be integrated into the mobile platforms of the future (see attached video).

This technological collaboration is based on the integration of Metaio's augmented reality IP hardware on mobile platforms (smarphone) next-generation technology from ST-Ericcson to quickly and more accurately process augmented reality applications.

This AR chipset from Metaio allows you to insert virtually any 3D and virtual content into the real world using image recognition, objects and complete environments, with mobile devices and always connected in a smart city (o Augmented city), with initialization up to sixty times faster than a conventional AR application, according to the company.

As Peter Meier pointed out a few months ago during the presentation of this technological agreement, Metaio technology manager, “AR Engine achieves with augmented reality what the GPU did years ago in the gaming industry. It's a big leap in the AR space, and we strongly believe that AR Engine, which works with ST-Ericsson platforms, will help achieve the Augmented City; a fully connected environment that uses augmented reality, enabling the next generation of optimized mobile platforms”.

In this sense, The goal of AR Engine on these platforms is to process most augmented reality applications, from QR recognition and bookmarks, tracking ópticos, calculation 3D objects, etc. in a quality and continuous experience, with minimal battery consumption and operation of the mobile terminal.

 

AR: a rising market

The co-founder and CEO of Metaio, Thomas Alt, does not doubt the revolution that augmented reality technology will bring to the world market, considered one of the ten best current IT technological advances according to the consulting firm Gartner, and that your company wants to lead.

Alt is based not only on the success of this German company, founded in 2003 from a project with Volkswagen that allowed its creators to receive a scholarship and develop in 2005 its first AR application for the end consumer (KPS Click & Design), but in the latest market studies on this technology.
