The Murcian technology company Droiders has broadcast live the world's first surgical intervention using Google Glass through the Glasster Streamer platform, made on 21 June.

Dr. Pedró Guillén has carried out, he 21 June, the first surgical intervention with the use of Google Glass that takes place in the world broadcast in streaming over the Internet, with the platform of the Spanish company Droiders, denominated Glasster Streamer.

Droiders, technology company based in Murcia, is responsible for this intervention that is issued with the augmented reality glasses Google Glass, pioneer in the world, through the real-time video streaming platform Glasster Streamer, which uses this device and HTML support 5 and Flash.

The traumatologist Pedro Guillén, head of the Traumatology Service at the Cemtro clinic, will wear the augmented reality glasses while performing the intervention, that is broadcast in streaming, to a man of 49 years with a knee problem, consisting of a chondrocyte transplant.

Google GlassFor this pioneering intervention, Google has exclusively granted the Droiders company the development of applications and services for Google Glass, fruit of the agreement with the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM), as reported by this institution.

Along with traumatologist Pedro Guillén, Dr. Homero Rivas also participates in the operation virtually from the United States., director of Innovative Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine and telemedicine expert.

Google Glass is a device made up of a camera, GPS, bluetooth, microphone and a small viewfinder that allows the user to see a projection and at the same time take images and record videos, only with voice prompts.
