The Awards 40 Main 2013 shine with Robe lighting and its Pointe and LEDBeam systems 100

The Awards Ceremony 40 Main 2013, which took place at the beginning of December at the Madrid Sports Palace, had Robe technology to carry out the show.

Los 40 Principales is one of the most heard music chains in Spain. Its awards recognize the best contemporary music in the country in 15 different categories. the show, organized for the award ceremony of 2013, that took place on 12 december, featured a number of live performances, al, was broadcast live on Divinity TV and also broadcast on Cuatro TV.

The lighting assignment for the show was carried out by Juanjo Beloqui who chose the technology of Robe for the show. Concretely, used 30 Robin Pointe teams and others 30 LEDBeam 100, which were supplied by the rental company ASL. These were mounted throughout the central stage structure on the stage and used, mainly, for lighting from behind.

According to Beloqui, “using these lights was a good experience. Of the Pointe lights it is worth highlighting features such as the zoom, rotating prisms and diffusion/frost filter. And the LEDBeam 100 its size and versatility. They are small, powerful and with a very clear beam. This together with the precise saturated colors, plus the speed of lighting and quick response is what was needed for this occasion”.

Setting up the event presented several challenges for Beloqui and his lighting team. First was ensuring that all camera shots were unobstructed and had sufficient clarity and correct color temperatures as well as all fixtures positioned so they could operate for multi-camera shots.. Then, The artists needed a good look and to have different individual treatments for their presentations. Besides, The pressure was on to create a show that was visually exciting for the live audience of 15.000 personas.

Another challenge was the short assembly and rehearsal times., dictated by the room's busy event schedule so the lighting setup was designed from the beginning with the practicality of quickly placing it in the room.
