In its fourth consecutive participation in ISE, the German supplier of professional audio systems d&b audiotechnik shows for the first time in this edition 2014 (stand 7-C205) an innovative solution for fixed applications: the D80 amplifier.

DB audiotechnik D80

d&b audiotechnik has officially presented in WHEREAS 2014 a new and powerful four-channel amplifier - called D80 -, specially designed for installation applications and that its managers place “directly at the heart of the d systems”.&b audiotechnik”.

The D80 amplifier offers sophisticated control and power capabilities to efficiently power d speakers.&b, with comprehensive management and protection features for use in both mobile applications and permanent installations.

As Marc Weber points out, product director of this multinational, “for many years and many generations of systems, d&b has earned an excellent reputation for reliability. It is very difficult to design reliability, but D80 is the result of careful planning and meticulous attention, retail, during the research stages, development and production.

Proof of this development philosophy is that, during these stages, “includes a period of extensive field testing lasting several years and taking place at major festivals, tours, events and performances from around the world - Weber specifies -. The feedback we have received gives us confidence that the D80 amplifier, which is officially now available, will satisfy for a long time the expectations that accompany the products of our brand”.

This new amplifier, of 2 RU and high power density, incorporates digital signal processing (DSP) which provides configurations for the entire range of d speakers&b. Each of the four channels built into the D80 offers a signal delay of up to ten seconds and two sixteen-band equalizers., that provide parametric filters, Notch, shelving and asymmetrical.

Besides, specific functions for d speakers are included&b, like CUT (modo CUT), CPL (Coupling), HFC (high frequency compensation) y CSA (cardioid subwoofer arrangement), as well as Dual channel output configurations, Mix TOP/SUB y 2-Way Active, that the user can select, along with analog and digital inputs and connections.

High precision in audio playback

The D80 amplifier's four outputs can deliver up to 4.000 watts to 4 ohms and are distributed through a single NL8 connector or through the dedicated speaker outputs. Load Match function allows electrical compensation of speaker cable properties, without the need for any additional driver, so that the precision in audio reproduction is increased in a bandwidth of up to 20 kHz, and tonal balance is preserved when using cable lengths up to 70 m (230 ft).

Class D amplifier uses a switching power supply with active power factor correction (PFC), suitable for voltages of 100 – 127 V/208 – 240 V, 50 – 60 Hz. The output capacity of the D80 system is independent of voltage variations caused by electrical sources of irregular performance. In addition, Optimum system performance will be maintained when operating on high load power supply.

All features and functions can be easily controlled using the TFT color touch screen and rotary encoder on the front of the amplifier.. Besides, D80 integrates with d's remote control network&b via CAN-Bus or Ethernet connectors and uses OCA protocols (OCA Alliance open control architecture).

d's R1 remote control software&b provides a flexible work area in which they can be grouped, all features can be monitored and managed remotely, functions and controls available on the front panel of the d amplifiers&b. New versions of d's ArrayCalc simulation software&b, the planning tool for your systems, as well as its R1 remote control software are compatible with the D80 amplifier.

In this contest, d&b also conducts demonstration sessions (room E103) so professionals can experience the distinctive and directivity control features of the new xC-Series column loudspeakers, with 16C models, 24C and 24C-E that it has incorporated into its White range, designed for environments with complicated acoustics and aesthetics.
