The Xunta de Galicia receives more than 16 million euros to improve its ICT infrastructure
The Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, Jose Manuel Soria, and the president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijoó, have signed several agreements as part of the Digital Agenda for Spain, to boost thanks to the investment of 16,75 million euros, the application of ICT in healthcare, social services and justice in Galicia.
Improve ICT infrastructure in the area of social services and health to improve service to users, as well as promoting the electronic judicial file by providing the courtrooms with recording and videoconferencing solutions, These are some of the actions of the collaboration agreements signed by the Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, Jose Manuel Soria, and the president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijoó, for this autonomous community.
These agreements, that have a provision of 16,75 million euros, They are broken down as follows: the Ministry of Industry, through the public entity Red.es, covers the 80% of the planned investment from the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), and the 20% remaining will come from the budgets of the Xunta.
The objective of these agreements is to promote the use of Information and Communication Technologies (TIC), within the framework of public administration, to offer a more agile and higher quality service for citizens. This important investment, which is part of the specific plan for Digital Public Services of the Digital Agenda for Spain, will result in the improvement of the technological equipment of the beneficiary administrations, the training and qualification of its professionals and the optimization of the services provided to society.
Of the three agreements that have been signed, the one that affects the health sector is the one that receives the greatest investment, with a total of 15 million euros. Its lines of action are based on the provision of technological infrastructure, both software and hardware, to the health centers of Galicia. The measure especially affects the deployment, consolidation and interoperability of the electronic medical record and the electronic prescription.
The development of actions to improve the service provided to chronically ill patients and their families is also contemplated., through the use of mobility technologies and applications in the management of home care for chronically ill patients, as well as for actions aimed at promoting the use of the electronic DNI as a complementary personal identification mechanism to the Individual Health Card, as a way for citizens to access new online services.
The second agreement aims to improve the implementation and use of ICT in the field of Galician social services, for which they are intended 800.000 euros in order to improve the technological infrastructure of the network of public initiative centers in the field of social welfare of this autonomous community, whose beneficiaries are the socio-community centers, of the elderly and disabled, of youth, protection of women and minors, nursery schools, family meeting points, leisure residences, etc.
The planned actions consist of the provision of ICT equipment (personal computers, mobility equipment, means for digitization, servers and storage) and the services necessary for its use.
With an investment of 950.000 euros, The third collaboration agreement focuses on providing software solutions and technological infrastructure to the Galician courtrooms, to develop and consolidate the electronic judicial file. This initiative, which represents a new extension of the agreement signed in 2010 between both administrations, consists of the provision of the equipment and services necessary for the recording of the views, electronic access to them and their future incorporation into the electronic judicial file.
