Sephora brings augmented reality to the world of cosmetics with the ModiFace 3D mirror
In order to attract customers to its Milan store, Sephora has installed the ModiFace 3D virtual mirror to test how eyeshadows can look without having to put on makeup. The mirror is designed with an LCD screen and incorporates a camera that is responsible for recognizing the face, gestures and movements.

Sephora has launched this experience in one of its stores in Milan and has used technology from ModiFace to offer a 3D augmented reality mirror that allows you to recreate how the paints and makeup will look without the client having to paint themselves.
Its operation is very simple, You just have to stand in front of the mirror and a camera is responsible for detecting the position. On screen, A wide palette of colors for eye shadows will be shown and once the desired one has been selected it will be shown in the mirror, virtually, How would it look on the face of the person you are looking at?.
The mirror is designed with an LCD screen that incorporates a high-definition camera that captures the image. ModiFace technology is responsible for tracking the face and recording the location of facial features. An interface that is capable of recognizing gestures and movements, so that the user can change position and see the result in front, in profile or from any other angle.
“We believe that ModiFace 3D augmented reality mirror will be a very innovative technology for our customers., since they will be able to try different shades of eye shadow quickly and easily, virtually, and so they won't have to put on makeup in the store”, explains Antonio Ferreira de Almeida, general manager of Sephora Italia.
