The new HP Inc is presented in society at the Complutense Dome with 360º projections
The creative studio NewMedia explains in a video interview for Digital AV Magazine how the 360º audiovisual projection of the Dome of the Complutense University of Madrid was carried out, that the past 3 November served as the framework to celebrate the business start of HP Inc. An immersive show that has Christie J Series projectors for its execution.
The Complutense Dome, also called U-Dome, located on the campus of the University City of Madrid, has been the scenario chosen by the new company HP Inc to celebrate the past 3 November, together with its current president and CEO for Spain and Portugal, Helena Herrero, its launch on the market, after the division of the multinational into two independent organizations: this first focused on the development of personal systems and printing, y HP Enterprise, to manage the infrastructure business, software and services.
A pioneering facility in Europe for its technological infrastructure for immersive projection or Fulldome and for being the first dome for academic events, institutional, cultural and corporate permanently installed in Spain. Diaphanous structure, U-Domo has a useful surface of 350 m2 to accommodate about five hundred people.
This spectacular venue, technologically managed by the studio NewMedia Creative Technology, It consists of a line or negative pressure screen in which six projectors Christie Roadster HD 18K y sonido surround 5.1 allow spectacular 360º projections to create immersive environments.
The most important event of the new HP Inc
Precisely these technological characteristics and their marked connection with the academic environment, “just like the university origin of Hewlett Packard”, as Herrero explained, The Complutense Dome has been the ideal setting for HP Inc to begin its business journey “with the enthusiasm of a startup and the strength of a Fortune 100 company”, stressed the new president of the company.
Under these premises, Guests at the event were able to enjoy a spectacular and avant-garde audiovisual event., produced by NewMedia Creative Technology with Christie projectors, in which 360º projections have been merged, 3D mapping and Show Master Control under this geodesic structure.
“When HP contacted us, He told us that he was looking for a different product that was innovative, since it was for the most important event in its history. They wanted that when people came in, felt like a participant in the company, and that is a bit on which the production has been based: 'we are one, “We had a lot of baggage and we want you to participate in the new HP Inc.”, Javier Ruiz clarifies, technical director and CEO of NewMedia Creative Technology.
Digital AV Magazine has had the opportunity to learn in detail, via NewMedia CEOs, how this production was made and record the interview inside the Complutense Dome (see attached video).
Avant-garde and unique installation
Geodesic structure shaped like an igloo or dome (of 21,7 meters in diameter and 10,5 tall) and equipped with a negative pressure system that allows the elevation of a screen of 800 square meters that makes the metal structure disappear, The Complutense Dome is a unique and avant-garde space that is used for celebrations and events as well as for entertainment and academic experiences..
In this last aspect of training, has become the first teaching center that will offer a degree in Fulldome and 360º Cinema, in collaboration with NewMedia, to which companies in the technological field are joining as collaborators, one of which will be HP Inc.
Six Christie Roadster HD20K-J projectors have been installed inside this geodesic dome. (DLP the 3 chips, HD resolution and each with 18.000 lumens) to make 360º projections on the screen, generating more than 12 millions of pixels at 4K resolution, all synchronized through Delta Media Servers 7thSense and Show Master Control software Medialon.
As Javier Ruiz explains, “On a technical level we have the best partner we could have, what is christie. Not only for the quality of its projectors but for the support it provided us permanently”.
The six projectors from this supplier are located on supports of 2 meters and separated from each other by about 60º, They work by blending and warping with the Christie Twist module. The Delta Media Server allows you to generate Fulldome images, no TGA understanding, both blending and warping. “We applied blending to six projectors and, in some cases, even at up to five junction points. For your part, Medialon's Show Master Control interacts with the projectors directly. Christie protocols are completely open and allow you to work, with practically any system”, Javier Ruiz points out.
Fulldome, an emerging technology
In the Digital AV Magazine video interview with Diego de Anna, CEO de NewMedia Creative Technology Studio, This manager explained what the company's history has been and how Fulldome technology has been introduced into the market.
“We have been working in this industry for more than twenty years., although in Spain we have been present since 2005. We are the first company that has introduced mapping in Spain, in the year 2009 and four years ago we moved to the Fulldome and 360º projections. We have done work with companies like Audi, Microsoft, LG, Twitter and now with HP Inc; with first and big brands because what they require is that the viewer be part of the show”.
For Diego de Anna, Projections on geodesic domes are relatively new, “with a background of eight or ten years. Most of the material that was designed for this type of infrastructure has a lot to do with the space of the universe., because the way to visualize it was through the planetariums”.
This concept has currently been transferred to the events environment, to the corporate world and training. “It is developing very quickly for the creation of artistic or corporate content., like the ones we do. In our projects we take care of all the production, from seed conception to execution. “We are one of the few companies that have the necessary infrastructure to carry out this type of installation.”.
And this is what happened at the HP Inc event, “a celebration among friends”, as Helena Herrero said, and it began with the guests wrapped under the stars, because “looking at the stars makes me think about the future”, he emphasized, to show that in the new company he leads “we want to distinguish ourselves by the way we do things”, and with very clear commitments “to the channel, the company, the environment, society and with Spain”, based on collaboration.
