Immersive Festival Madrid 2016 opens its doors with Christie as a technology partner
The audiovisual systems company participates as a technological partner of this festival that from today until next 21 May is celebrated at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), to boost creative application in 360º projections, virtual reality and other immersive environments.
'The lessons of our past, envisioning our futures: obtaining immersive experiences' is the central theme of Immersive Festival Madrid 2016, which today has opened its doors until 21 May at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), in order to promote the creative application in projections of 360 degrees, virtual reality and other immersive environments.
Organized by NewMedia Creative Technology Studio, FDDB.ORG (The Fulldome Database) and the UCM, this event is free access for students, companies, creators, etc. who operate or want to enter fulldome, virtual reality or 360º cinema is the first of its kind in Spain and an opportunity to share ideas, opinions and knowledge about production, dissemination and learning related to immersive experiences.
Immersive Festival Madrid 2016 It takes place inside the permanent projection dome, the only one in Spain, of 360 degrees and 21 meters in diameter of the University City, known as U-Dome (more details in Digital AV Magazine), in which, among other activities, panoramic films are projected, live shows from renowned producers, VJs and product presentations, as well as workshops and conferences.
As technological partner of the festival, Christie has participated in equipping the dome with six 3DLP technology projectors, of 20.000 lumens each and with lenses 1.1:1 HD, of its Serie J. Through blending and warping techniques, These equipment will offer 360º projections working at a resolution of almost 3K, with more than twelve million pixels. Next to the U-Dome another dome has been installed (VR Dome) dedicated exclusively to virtual reality.
Diego De Anna, CEO of NewMedia, explains the importance of Christie as a technological partner of Immersive Festival Madrid 2016: “Our policy at this festival has been to apply the highest technology for projections, That's why from the beginning we knew that we wanted to have Christie by our side. This 360º projection system is so complex that only its equipment offers us the reliability, robustness, required luminosity and quality, without forgetting the technical support and support offered by its office in Spain”.

The J Series is built to withstand the busy life and stress of rental and entertainment equipment.. There is no other projector in the range of 20.000 lumens that can guarantee the rich and saturated colors of the J Series in such a compact chassis”.
The festival has scheduled the screening of more than eighty fulldome films from 42 countries that will compete for different prizes in five categories: Music shows; Shorts; Feature films; Student projects e Independent shows.
The jury is made up of various art personalities, culture and society, as Chus Gutiérrez (film director); Alaska (actress, singer and songwriter); Martha Sanchez (singer); Mario Vaquerizo (celebrity); Topacio Fresh (gallerist); Dario Tiveron (president of FDDB); Shona Golding (fashion designer); Micky Remann (president of Fulldome Festival Jena), y Dan Neafus (president of Imersa), inter alia.
