The Philips Gran Vía Light Theater installs a dLive digital console by Allen & Heath
Smedia Group, company responsible for the management of the Philips Gran Vía Light Theater, you have decided to install this digital audio mixing system, composed of an S5000 console and a DM48 rack, which will be mainly responsible for controlling and mixing the PA system of the historic theater.
The dLive digital console Allen & Heath has been the digital audio mixing system of choice for Smedia Group, responsible for the management of the recently renovated and renamed Teatro de la Luz Philips Gran Vía (more details in Digital AV Magazine), with a capacity of 950 seats and located in the center of Madrid, in the main culture and leisure area of the city.
Multiple and varied reasons have led those responsible for the theater to choose the dLive digital mixing system., that sells in the Spanish market Lexon Distribution, among which are not only optimal sound quality, but an excellent quality/price ratio to offer nothing less than 128 channels and 64 buses, at a significantly lower cost.
Added to the above is the ease of use of its user interface., which also makes it possible for the learning curve to use the console to be very short, a very important aspect in a theater environment, where it is most common for many different technicians to work.
The inauguration of the use of this new and sophisticated live digital mixing system has been the prestigious dance company Vivancos, who recently presented their new show 'Born to dance' in this theater, in which different musical styles are combined, from flamenco to rock and even classical, with dance, martial arts and a surprising staging. A challenge in which the capabilities of the dLive console were amply demonstrated.
Later, dLive was also used for an event organized by the Jordanian Embassy in Spain, in which Zade Dirani, pianist from this country and internationally recognized, presented his work 'Bridges'.
On this occasion, in addition to the PA mixing system consisting of the S5000 console and the DM48 rack, theater property, A second dLive system was also installed, consisting of an S7000 console and a DM64 rack., which was intended to manage the complex mix of monitors.
Panorama Award for 'Best Audio Technology'
Coinciding with the first day of the contest BIT Broadcast 2016, which took place a week ago at Ifema – Feria de Madrid, the online newspaper specialized in this sector, Panorama Audiovisual, celebrated the gala II Panorama Awards, awards that recognize the excellence of companies, professionals, television solutions and productions, cine, radio and advertising, during which Allen's dLive system & Heath won the award in the 'Best Audio Technology' category, que recogió Gabriel Albornoz, brand manager Allen & Heath and Genelec by Lexon Distribution (in the image below) .
This digital live console is based on an ultra-flexible architecture, a powerful FPGA processing core and a multitude of expansion options, network control and connectivity, as well as in the Harmony user interface, which includes gesture control.
The 96k/96bit XCVI Core processing core has the capacity to 128 inputs with full processing and 16 stereo processing returns, with a total of 160 inputs for mixing and an architecture of 64 fully user-configurable mix buses.
The dLive console also incorporates the complete DEEP processing package, including graphic EQs, compressors, multiband compressors and dynamic EQ, along with sixteen virtual processing racks, including Allen effects emulations & Heath.
Following the concept already used previously in other digital mixing systems from this audio manufacturer, This new console has an architecture where the mixing rack (MixRack) and control surface are separated.
The dLive system processing is housed in the MixRack, available in three formats (DM32, DM48 y DM64) and three control surfaces, all of them compatible, since they work together as soon as you connect them, as well as common configuration and show file compatibility.
