Panasonic, Sony and NHK: Japanese alliance to promote 8K technology before Tokyo 2020
The Japanese public television announcement that the next Olympic Games, that will be held in the Japanese capital, will be broadcast with Super Hi-Vision/8K resolution has given rise to this association with the aim of promoting the development and, mainly the sale of televisions with this image resolution.
Two giants of the audiovisual industry: Panasonic y Sony, together with the television channel NHK have joined forces to boost the sale of equipment with Super Hi-Vision/8K technology (7.680×4.320 pixels) and contents before 2020, date on which the Olympic Games will be held in Tokyo, with the aim of broadcasting this world sporting event with this quality.
Although NHK carried out some live broadcasts with 8K resolution during the recent Rio Olympics 2016, One of the great obstacles to its development is that there is hardly any equipment with this technology on the market. (one of them is that of the also Japanese Sharp), and taking into account that manufacturers have only just begun to market their first televisions with 4K quality and take advantage of the investment made in recent years.
The four-year objective of this alliance, and months before Tokyo begins 2020, focuses on changing the market and user mentality in favor of 8K, with the development of televisions with this technology at an affordable price for users of these manufacturers and others who join this challenge, in addition to promoting the creation of content and infrastructure in the so-called 'television of the future' and having the support of more broadcasters in broadcasting.
