Samsung contributes to the launch of the project that promotes digital learning, Classroom of the Future
It is a space, located at the headquarters of the Intef, which has been equipped with different technologies such as the interactive whiteboard, virtual reality devices, cameras to record content in 360, latest generation smartphones and tablets with S Pen.
Samsung has collaborated in the conceptualization and implementation of the project of the National Institute of Educational Technologies and Teacher Training (Intef), unit attached to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports (MECD), Classroom of the Future, whose objective is to serve as a space for experimentation and innovation to promote the use of technologies in the educational environment and promote the personalization of learning.
“Providing our experience in the educational field and advanced technology to promote the transformation of Spanish classrooms and help teachers discover and master new methodological tools, in line with European reference models”, declares Francisco Hortigüela, Director of Corporate Citizenship, Communication and Institutional Relations of Samsung Spain.
The space created at the Intef headquarters is equipped with different technologies such as the interactive whiteboard, virtual reality devices, cameras to record content in 360, latest generation smartphones or tablets with S Pen. Its purpose is for teachers to have a reference model with this initiative that will help them apply active pedagogies in their daily practice..
The Classroom of the Future is divided into four learning zones: explore (investigate, find out, innova), crea (you're welcome, editor), develop/research (plan, examina, discover) and interact/present (debate, listen, ask, share). Thanks to this spatial distribution and the adoption of active methodologies, Learning is favored in aspects such as collaborative work and the use of interdisciplinary resources.
The project is linked to the European initiative Future Classroom Lab (FCL), started in 2012 por European Schoolnet (EUN), the consortium of European education ministries to which the MECD is associated, that aims to transform and improve the use of technology in teaching and learning during the stages of non-university education. From 2015, Teachers from all over Spain are part of the Spanish network of FCL ambassadors to advance in this direction and promote the comprehensive development of skills in their students..
Samsung's participation in the Classroom of the Future project is part of the agreement signed with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Spain, whose objective is to collaborate in the creation and maintenance of a space for the Spanish educational community dedicated to discussion, interaction, collaborative work, experimentation and training about 21st century learning environments.
Samsung has provided MECD with its support in the design and conceptualization of the Classroom of the Future, in addition to supplying the equipment used in space and taking care of its updating and maintenance.
In addition, The agreement contemplates the joint development of actions such as teacher training courses, dissemination of good practices from educational centers, research and experimentation actions, meetings of technical working groups of the autonomous communities and meetings of educational projects of the Intef, such as the Samsung Smart School corporate citizenship program, of which they are part 32 Primary Education centers throughout Spain.
Robotics and virtual reality
The Classroom of the Future will host numerous workshops and demonstrations organized by Intef in which teachers and students will be able to discover, experiment and share tools for the integration of technology in the classroom. The first training activity took place last 8 March under the title 'Experience in the Classroom of the Future with Cervanbot and 3D', with the participation of the 5th grade students of the CEIP Miguel de Cervantes in Leganés (Madrid).
Its action plan includes holding workshops on robot programming, ScratchJr a tablet, circuits, programming of plates and digital reporters with video recording on tablets. Attendees will also be able to experiment with the classroom material and participate in a 3D printing workshop and another virtual reality workshop with VR glasses and 360º cameras..
