The transition from the interactive whiteboard to the panel in educational environments, the consolidation of digital signage and the renovation or new installations of meeting rooms in companies are the three great 'opportunities' that Joan Axia, Maverick director, seen as keys for the AV sector to have an optimal evolution.

Due to different circumstances, 2016 It has been a year of inflection for the audiovisual market but the expectations for 2017, and for the next few years, son, on the other hand, very positive, not only due to the recovery of public investment and the consolidation of digital signage solutions but also due to the entry of traditionally IT brands into the AV sector.. This will energize and expand the number of installations, allowing new integrators in the IT world to offer audiovisual solutions in their portfolio.

As opportunities I would like to highlight three especially, which will be those that will help us achieve the positive results we expect.

The first, is the transition from the interactive whiteboard to the panel in educational environments. This transition has already been a reality for two years in some Northern European countries and for it to be so in Spain, a strong commitment to this technology by the Public Administration is needed., main driving force of this sector. Public investment has a direct consequence on the renovation of AV facilities in the classroom, in private schools, concerted and non-regulated education.

The second great opportunity is the consolidation of digital signage in many areas of our society.. As I have mentioned previously, highlight retail as the main driving force within these solutions.. Spain is one of the leading countries in the fields of retail and fashion, highly changing and very demanding sectors, where the consumer is the one who decides at all times and where companies are obliged to know their customer through acquisition technology, segmentation and data analysis, offering you a completely personalized experience through digital signage solutions.

Finally, The last great opportunity is in the renovation or new installations of meeting rooms in companies with the aim of adapting them to the real needs of new workers.

Being able to videoconference with your colleagues and collaborate in real time is no longer a luxury limited to some company managers., but a necessity and an obligation on the part of the company when it comes to offering the essential tools for the worker to carry out their work..

Even with these positive forecasts and these clear opportunities, we cannot forget that Spain is a country of contrasts.. On the one hand, creativity in companies is a reality, and this is demonstrated by the large number of startups or small companies developing technology in innovative sectors. (digital signage software, IoT applied to retail…). It is also a country with strong public investments in education (when there is a budget). On the other hand, The business fabric is mainly made up of SMEs, which makes the implementation of large projects and the adoption of new technologies difficult and slows down.

All this directs us towards a 'volume' business that covers the needs of large companies and the Public Administration., but also towards a more valuable and specific business for those SMEs that need more support and advice.

Maverick is the number one AV wholesaler in Europe and our main challenge is to offer customers the best solution and the best services, according to your own needs. To achieve this in a more agile way, we have organized two large product areas..

The first focused specifically on collaborative environments, where we include a specific sales strategy in education and business. The second focuses on digital signage solutions, mainly for the retail environment. With the aim of offering a complete solution, we count, besides, with the rest of the Tech Data portfolio and the know-how of our IoT and Cloud divisions.

Go Axia

Director of Maverick, division of Tech Data.
