Genelec adds cloud services and reference levels to GLM software 3
In his participation in IBC 2017 in Amsterdam, The manufacturer has shown that this service offers space to store three complete system calibrations, each with ten groups, for a total of thirty acoustic settings.
Having revolutionized active monitoring for over a decade with the development of GLM monitor control software (Genelec Loudspeaker Manager), the company has presented in IBC 2017 the innovations introduced in GLM 3, incorporating beta cloud services and baseline tuning.
for the first time, Users of Genelec SAM systems, brand that sells Audio-Technica Iberia, can access GLM cloud services, anywhere and anytime, providing secure backup and instant access to the latest program updates.
GLM 3, available for free download for all GLM users on their website, provides new reference level features developed in response to international standards in the broadcast environment, which require calibrating listening levels to allow programs to be interchangeable across different listening conditions.
Since its presentation, GLM software has helped audio professionals automatically calibrate, under Mac and PC platforms, your Genelec SAM monitor systems optimally for your acoustic environment.
GLM 3 allows each registered user to use both the local option and the cloud beta service, with the possibility of switching between both. Cloud service offers space to store three full system calibrations, each with ten groups, for a total of thirty acoustic settings, while online help makes it easy for you to send your GLM files to expert support and advice.
New Reference Level functionality allows users to calibrate listening levels according to EBUR128 and ATSC A/85 loudness standards, combining system alignment and in-situ frequency response compensation with listening level calibrated to a specific loudness reference. GLM 3 now provides this feature without the need to add an external high-quality monitor driver or other measurement tools.
Besides, since a predictable frequency response is key in reference monitoring, GLM 3 incorporates new customization features. Other improvements include the ability to adjust the sensitivity of the ISS power saving feature of each Genelec monitor, a microphone level checker and an indicator of the type of audio used, among others.
GLM 3 It also includes a simple system to update the firmware, so all SAM monitors can enable these new features instantly.
To Siamäk Naghian, director general de Genelec, “with GLM and technologies like SAM we help professionals work more efficiently and effectively. With the incorporation in GLM 3 of cloud-based services and reference-level listening in relation to loudness, we are redefining, one more time, industry workflow.
