DiiMD tests the first interactive and addressable digital sign iGirouette in Zaragoza
Capable of indicating thirty destinations at a time, This new type of digital signage is developed to respond to the needs of smart cities..
The Aragonese company Communication Digital Indoor (DiMD), specialized in the distribution of digital media and Led screens, has announced the first installation of the addressable interactive sign iWeather vane from Spain, specifically at the Zaragoza Expo site, which can indicate the address of up to thirty destinations simultaneously.
IGirouette is a vertical interactive support, which, like traditional signs, is anchored to the ground, to indicate to passers-by different locations in a city, that are accompanied by moving and colored icons, especially indicated for application in smart city projects, as has happened thanks to the agreement between DiiMD and Zaragoza Expo Empresarial, to carry out this pilot installation.
As Javier Domínguez has pointed out, technical manager of DiiMD, This agreement “represents a great opportunity to test this system, since it has allowed us to be pioneers in Spain in this commitment to smart signage, in an ideal environment with a large number of visitors and citizens who go to the City of Justice, to the headquarters of the Government of Aragon, who now have this digital signage”.
The system is configured by two LED screens as 360º rotating arrows., that are motorized and independent, showing directions of interest on both sides, from an institution to a monument, although as they point out from DiiMD they can also show events, shows, etc. in large areas, theme parks, etc.
Next to each information appears the distance in meters at which it is located., since each location shown in iGirouette is geolocated through Google Maps “to offer the user updated information in real time,” Domínguez points out.. Besides, at night and automatically, “The screen lowers its brightness and power as it is an intelligent and sustainable system.”.
In this sense, This connected system is specially designed to respond to the requirements and needs of smart cities, since in addition to offering various information on the same panel in a small space, can be used in case of emergency or evacuation situations, signaling departures in real time.
Another of its advantages is reduced consumption due to LED lighting., which also makes the information clearly readable day and night and even from a great distance, as well as its portability thanks to the fact that it can include a long-lasting battery (up to a week), which allows it to continue working if an incident occurs in the electrical network.
Its applications are very wide and versatile., as well as the possibilities it offers to the user himself, since these digital signals can connect to the Internet through 3G and 4G or network cable and interact with the user through an app and their mobile phone, among other options.
Available in the Spanish market through DiiMD, This signage support is a French development, specifically created in Lyon, which has more than forty iGirouette signs deployed throughout the city, since “it is part of the 'Lyon confluence' smart city project, which has currently become the most ecological and technological in France, and are also used on the Lyon football field, Futuroscope theme park, in Luxembourg and in some train stations in the country”.
