The multifunctional Lanxess Arena relies on Artist Riedel systems for its events and broadcasts
Currently the largest in Germany, The stadium now has a complete communications network based on Riedel Artist to streamline its production workflows.
Located in the German city of Cologne, the multifunctional stadium Lanxess Arena It is currently the largest in the country, with capacity for 20.000 seats and 83.700 m2 of useful surface, becoming the headquarters of large events of all kinds for more than twenty years and, fundamentally, in the stadium of the eight-time German ice hockey champion Cologne Sharks.
Now and after carrying out numerous tests, Arena Management, installation manager, has renewed its communication systems and has chosen the decentralized intercom solution of Riedel, based on two Artist-32 digital matrix intercom nodes, with one Artist frame in the production control room and another in the central technical area under the arena.
This two-frame configuration allows stadium technicians to access an existing network infrastructure beneath the facility to create the redundancies needed for any event..
Martin Rebiszewski, technical director of Arena Management, explains that “since its completion in 1998, Lanxess Arena has trusted Riedel communications. Now, This comprehensive intercom upgrade is a gift for everyone, on the occasion of our 20th anniversary. In terms of reliability and flexibility, Riedel products are truly unmatched. With unprecedented scalability, “Artist infrastructure is perfect for multifunctional rooms with constantly changing requirements”.
Thanks to its modular structure, The Artist ecosystem can be easily expanded to adapt to the specific conditions of the different events held at Lanxess Arena.
The ability to effortlessly integrate rented Riedel accessories, such as SmartPanels and Bolero wireless intercoms, has been especially valuable in carrying out larger events and productions.
El ecosistema Artist con SmartPanels 23 2300-Series enables flexible and creative workflows for Arena Management's production team. At the Cologne Sharks hockey games, the communications system not only connects production personnel, camera, sound and lighting, but also integrates the referees, the announcers and the DJ.
“Ice hockey allows for a particularly spectacular staging, but it also imposes demanding demands on TV and event production – points out Niklas Rautenberg, Riedel account manager-. By allowing clear and reliable communication between all participants, “The production team can now present the Cologne Sharks games in an even better light.”.
With this Artist installation, “Lanxess Arena is prepared to overcome any production challenge. “We are very pleased to have renewed the long-term partnership with Arena Management and are looking forward to the next ice hockey season.”, assures Rautenberg.
