The City Council wants to turn Madrid into the city of Light

Andrea Levy, delegate of the Culture Area, Tourism and Sports, has announced the creation of a Festival of Light, which will be held every two years and will aim to project artistic works in unique locations in the city.

It would be a festival format in unique locations, with interventions by artists, designers or video artists, that as an alternative to performances that are limited to projections of works or videomapping, work or explore the possibilities of light itself as an artistic material.

Besides, Small interventions will be carried out in certain areas such as parks, places, facades, etc., longer lasting than the previous ones, in which artists and lighting specialists show the capacity of light as an instrument to change the perception of public space.

Currently, Both initiatives already have precedents in the international arena. Among the festivals, perhaps the best known, is the Lyon Festival of Lights, con 30 years of experience.
