British pop rock band, who has decided not to promote his new album 'Everyday life' live due to the environmental impact that his concerts can generate, has performed two sets – Sunrise and Sunset – at the Amman Citadel (Jordan) which have been broadcast live on YouTube for its launch.

Everyday live, the new album Coldplay, It has been originally presented to the market in Jordan, interpreting from the sets Sunrise y Sunset, which were broadcast live through YouTube to celebrate its launch. “We wanted to choose a place in the middle of the world where we normally don't play”, Chris Martin explained., Coldplay singer, to the BBC.

A few days before the Amman performances, Coldplay management announced the addition of a live show, what took place in the past 25 November, in it Natural History Museum from London. Selected songs from this performance will be available on radio and social media, and profits will be donated to an environmental charity.

Yes ok, What seemed easy for this alternative show and call for the care of the Planet was the result of intense preparations, in which prestigious industry professionals participated, as Toby Alington, broadcast sound engineer, responsible for finding a solution for Amman's broadcasting mix, after Tony Smith's call, Coldplay audio designer.

In turn, Alington contacted Dirk Sykora, of Theirs, to define a solution with his mc²56 console and mixed the two sets live in Amman with the help of Rik Simpson, producer and sound engineer, y Dan Green, FOH engineer, de Coldplay.

As Sykora explains, responsible for setting up and programming the Lawo mc²56 mixing console that has been used for streaming events Sunrise y Sunset, a total of 192 inputs into three separate DAW machines and mixed live on the console for stereo output.

The band rehearsed the new material in a theater in central Amman to allow the technical team to connect all the dots., program the console and adjust countless parameters to perfection. After rehearsals and live recordings in the theater, the equipment was carried uphill and set up in tents, near the place where Coldplay performed their concerts Sunrise y Sunset.

Despite assumptions to the contrary, the band's two performances in Amman were live and 'appropriate', which were also filmed and broadcast. “It was certainly not an event filmed to be reproduced,” explains Toby Alington.. We really needed those 192 audio channels, and we also set up a series of ambient microphones around the Citadel to capture live ‘the atmosphere’ of Amman at sunrise and sunset. The whole project was magical; “Everything fell perfectly into place.”.

The person in charge of Lawo, Dirk Sykora , ratifies his words: “Coldplay's concerts in the Citadel of Amman are one of the best moments of my professional career.” After these extraordinary shows, whose impact has been recognized worldwide, the band and their crew flew to London for the live concert at the Natural History Museum in London.

With FOH mixed by Dan Green, the performance was also recorded and mixed by Toby Alington and Rik Simpson using the Floating Earth OB truck, once again with a Lawo mc²56 console based on the settings that Dirk Sykora had prepared and saved in Amman and which were subsequently transferred to the console in the OB truck.

Rick Simpson, Coldplay producer and sound engineer, y Toby Alington, live audio mixing engineer in both Amman and London, They were very satisfied with the equipment supplied by the Dutch company SR Films and the sound quality of Lawo's mc²56. “This console works like my brain works.”. And it sounds great”, Alington stated..

The WWF welcomed Coldplay's initiative to postpone tours until a more environmentally friendly strategy has been found. With the advances of IP-based remote production, streaming and cutting-edge workflows, Lawo is more than willing to help the band reduce their carbon footprint.
