Canal Viu energizes local commerce in Figueras with digital signage

The specialist ScreenMedia has carried out the Canal Viu digital network project for the establishments in this Girona town, from which local commerce is promoted and information of interest is offered.

Channel Viu is a private TV channel that is broadcast on screens located in establishments in the city of Figueras (Fig trees, in Gerona), fruit of the idea of ​​an association of businessmen and merchants from this Catalan town to enhance the advantages of local commerce compared to large stores.

The content offered by Canal Viu provides useful information for the inhabitants of the city. (time, news, etc.) and local commerce advertisers, with full screen videos, with a line of text with news (in format ticker) at the bottom of it.

For this project, an initial deployment was carried out to a certain number of points in a first phase to, in successive stages, scale to a larger number of emission points and evaluate the experience of the initial phase.

The creation and management of channel content is carried out by a local company, who was looking for a solution to have the entire platform hosted in the cloud. After analyzing different proposals, the one provided by the company ScreenMedia fit the requirements, by having similar jobs, in addition to offering the best quality-price ratio.

For this project, 49” screens of the DB49J model have been supplied. Samsung, computers (Intel Stick 32Gb con Win10) and Dynacom Pro software. The deployment of the infrastructure has been the responsibility of the local company Argón Informática.

Following customer requirements, ScreenMedia created an initial content grid created in HTML5, which included videos in different formats and codecs, supported by your Dynacom software (H.264,MP4,MKV,FLV,VP9, etc.).

At a technical level, Local video transmission was chosen from the multimedia player to each of the local screens per establishment, which minimized the investment cost of using a player, and the corresponding software, for each screen.

For security reasons, an access VPN has also been configured for each device on each node. (or establishment), which guarantees tightness and security in communications and managed content. The latter are centralized in an external data center, that has redundant access to the network, Bandwidths greater than 1Gb and backup generating equipment.

The software used is from the Dynacom brand, property of ScreenMedia, developed to facilitate the deployment of digital signage projects, both in SaaS solution and with the purchase of permanent proprietary license.

Dynacom allows real-time video monitoring and viewing of each player, as well as remotely to resolve low-level technical incidents using free VNC software, drastically reducing the cost at the emission points.

The Dynacom software client license runs on Windows on the Intel player platform, and the server component of the system can do it on any Windows desktop, both in standalone user mode (Windows 10) the server (also by RDP from Linux or Mac environments), with very easy installation and maintenance of the management software for system administrators.
