AV Stumpfl integrated into the home of ‘La Maison du Kamouraska’
For the 360° projection of this dome, of almost 11 metros, The Pixera media server and eight Christie DWU1075-GS projectors have been used to map the surface. A 180° camera provides the ability to scan the dome geometry and calibrate mapping using Vioso software.
The live production specialist, integration of systems and equipment has selected the Pixera media server from BY Stumpfl for an installation at La Maison du Kamouraska in Québec.
The Maison du Kamouraska is a cultural and tourist attraction that highlights the history, culture and nature of the Lower San Lorenzo region (Lower Saint-Laurent) in Canada. Inside this modernist building, a 360° immersive dome has been created, that attracts both local residents and all types of visitors.
The company Solotech has been in charge of designing and providing the AV equipment for this 4K projection that offers attractive views of the region's landscapes., as well as the structure of the dome itself. To carry out the project, it partnered with Pacific Dome, which was responsible for the engineering and supply of the dome, as well as with Halo Creation, who created the video content, In addition to the team Kamco Construction.
The projection, mainly captured with 360° cameras, comes in 4,096 DomeMaster format×4.096 inside a dome 10,9 meters that provides the ideal curve to offer immersive projection.
After running multiple 3D simulations and fine-tuning your design, Solotech provided a solution using AV Stumpfl's Pixera and eight projectors Christie DWU1075-GS to map the surface. A 180° camera provides the ability to scan the dome geometry and calibrate the mapping using calibration software Vioso.
the dome, which also functions as a space for corporate events and shows, It is controlled through a centralized control system Crestron. This is operated via a wireless touch panel. 9 inches TST-902. Through multiple sessions with the client and the design team, Solotech created an intuitive and easy-to-use control panel that allows the customer to perform almost any activity in the dome and have control of all components..
The official Canadian distributor of Pixera, Theatrixx, based in Montreal, offered additional support during the design and programming phase of the project.
“As with any other project, Whether it's live production or systems integration, We begin with a thorough analysis of the client's plans and the project in general to ensure we deliver the best solutions and services”, commented Philippe Giron, business developer, Solotech sales and systems integration division.
The particular location was very narrow, so the installation was not without challenges. “Everything had to be completed in 10 weeks. Our team of experts started with the dome structure, then we mount the projectors on a vertical frame and connect them to the server, to proceed later to install the sound system 5.1 under the spotlights, in the same frame", comments Giron.
Using the Pixera Media Server System, with integrated Vioso dome calibration technology, It was a first for Solotech.
“The story between Solotech and AV Stumpfl really begins with the Kamouraska project. We were very impressed with Pixera's innovative GUI approach and the safety net of AV Stumpfl support made the whole experience very enjoyable.”, Giron adds..
