Genelec Maintains Breakthrough Performance with 1235A Smart Monitor
This team, that has the sound and legacy of the model 1035, It is ideal for large music studios, film and post-production, that require a high sound pressure level and a stable and neutral image.
The 1235A Intelligent Active Monitor Genelec, brand that distributes Audio-Technica Iberia, merges the sound and legacy of the model 1035, with digital processing performance 96 kHz and the ability to adapt to any space thanks to its integration with the manufacturer's GLM calibration software.
The 1235A is a main monitor ideal for large music studios, cinema or post-production, that require a high sound pressure level and a stable and neutral image. Can be optimized for the specific acoustic environment of each room.
Released in 1989, he 1035 became an industry standard, meeting the need for a full-range monitor that could be in-walled and provide reference performance at high sound pressure levels and long listening distances.
The new 1235A shares all the quality characteristics of its predecessor: optimal frequency response, both inside and outside the axis, along with good directivity. Allows you to achieve an optimal listening area, wide and stable, which is reliable for several listeners in the same room.
With a short range SPL of 130 dB and a low frequency response that reaches 29 Hz, The 1235A also provides impressive power, but its transparent, coloration-free performance ensures that the listener can make reliable and accurate mixing decisions even during long work sessions.
The enclosure of 350 liters of the 1235A matches the dimensions of the 1035, and has two 15” high-performance transducers, two 5” midrange and one low distortion 1” compression driver.
The midrange and tweeter work together with DCW waveguide technology to produce optimal directivity and a smooth, consistent image..
RAM-XL electronic module, remotely installable, contains amplification, crossover and processing filters, with Class-D amplifiers, delivering 2000 W, 800 W y 250 W for low transducers, medium and high frequency respectively. Input connectivity is provided in both analog and digital AES/EBU formats, along with a digital AES/EBU output, and its updated design also offers a flatter on-axis frequency response and lower noise than was possible with the original design of the 1035.
Thanks to its integration with the GLM software, the 1235A can be configured, controlled and calibrated for any type of acoustic environment, allowing the user to adjust the frequency response, level, distance and other parameters, to provide an optimized listening experience, and produce mixes that play in other rooms and systems.
GLM allows users of any type of smart active monitor (SAM) Genelec adapt to all types of stereo formats, stereo multiple, multichannel or 3D immersive audio.
The new 1235A technology is also available as an in-place upgrade for existing 1035A and 1035B monitor owners.. The update, which includes the installation of the new RAM-XL module, new transducers and a complete calibration system, can be carried out without structural changes and with little downtime for the study.
“While room sizes continue to shrink overall, there is still a clear demand in the musical area, of cinema and post-production, of main monitors that can provide precise and pristine performance at very high sound pressure levels”, comments Siamäk Naghian, director general de Genelec.
