Crowne Plaza Muscat optimizes customer experience with an end-to-end solution from Exterity

More than 332 SmartTV screens with a combination of TV and digital signage. An infrastructure that covers 295 rooms and seven conference rooms. The Exterity IPTV system offers 70 satellite television channels, as well as YouTube with Full HD resolution.

El Crowne Plaza Muscat Oman Exhibition and Convention Hotel (OCEC), member of the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has deployed a digital signage and entertainment solution that affects both guest rooms and conference rooms. This infrastructure also includes the transmission of TV channels to mobile devices.

The hotel is managed on behalf of the Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) y, as part of your development process, Crowne Plaza Muscat OCEC IT team worked closely with Omran to develop an integrated information solution, entertainment and digital signage that reaches the rooms and aims to offer a better experience to staying guests.

Omran had already worked with the IPTV system of Exterity in a project carried out at the Muscat International Airport, and had also implemented this technology in several hotels in Dubai.

Given the good results obtained, recommended Exterity IP video system as an option for the Crowne Plaza Muscat OCEC project.

“Our previous IPTV system was outdated and we wanted the new hotel to have a modern interface that would really capture guests' attention.. With the old system, making changes was very difficult. It didn't offer us all the features we wanted. However, With the Exterity system we have been able to design a new TV interface for the rooms”, comments Meslum AlKindi, Director of IT Area at IHG Oman.

The full deployment covers 295 rooms and seven conference rooms, in addition to the installation of different digital signage points throughout the hotel. The solution also includes integration with Amadeus Delphi to provide meeting room functionality.

The Exterity IPTV system offers 70 satellite television channels, as well as YouTube channels with Full HD resolution.

With BYOD support, as a key requirement for hotel guests, The solution is also integrated into the complex's WiFi network to enable streaming of TV shows to mobile devices..

In total, the hotel has deployed more than 332 SmartTV screens with a combination of TV and digital signage.
