The Maná ‘Rayando El Sol’ tour’ used Avolites technology to remember the 90s
The staging showed a visual spectacle where PAR and conventional lights were combined to create a vintage look.. Added to this were large-format automatic LED screens and Front of House projectors with sliding displays.. All this controlled with the Ai R8 server.
The Mexican pop rock band Maná is considered one of the most successful in Latin America, with more than 40 million albums sold worldwide. At the end of last year, took his tour Raying The Sun throughout the United States and Canada, with a visual spectacle created under the control of the Ai R8 server of Avolites.
“The staging offers a truly incredible experience, with the light show, the giant automatic LED screens that go from one wall to four in a matter of seconds and the Front of House projectors with sliding screens to capture the essence of the moment”, Menga Cruz points out, programmer and operator of Maná tours.
The tour was based around their first hit single., Raying The Sun, which was part of his studio album Falta Amor released in 1990. The first leg of the tour took place between August and December of last year. Currently on pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“That time was what inspired me for the design. My intention was for everyone to travel back in time. I wanted to combine PAR and conventional lights, create a vintage look with new technology, like an improved version of the past”, explains Menga.
Great follower of the solutions proposed by Avolites for a long time, Menga had been considering changing his video servers for some time and saw the opportunity to switch to the Ai R8 for this tour.
“I have watched the company evolve with the new servers and seen them grow not only as my trusted product provider but also as my family.”. They are always open to suggestions and constantly looking to the future., creating new things and investing in new technologies. When I saw the Ai R8 I thought it would be a perfect match for the design of this show”.
Menga especially appreciates the ease of use of the Ai R8 interface. “It was very easy to do a new project. There are so many functions within this platform that allows you to give free rein to your imagination.. The 3D tool is also amazing, “We had a lot of fun with her.”, points out.
The Ai R8 server allowed Menga to project not only key elements of the performance on stage, but also immersive content, including the creation of a virtual storm inside the stadium with raindrops projected on the LED screens, and ambient lights and sound simulating thunder and lightning.
“The entire staging is an experience that shows the evolution of current technologies and Maná itself”, concludes Menga.
