Exterity helps create IPTV solution at Scotway House student residence

In the rooms and common areas there are more than 260 screens, including LG Hospitality SmartTV equipment. A display network that is managed by ArtioGuest software.

The student residence Scotway House, which is located near the University of Glasgow, has implemented the ArtioGuest software Exterity to create a portal that can be accessed from all rooms.

This portal offers local and social information, as well as that which is related to accommodation. This project has been carried out with the company Interactive Solutions, a specialist in digital workspace transformation and AV solutions.

The project includes more than 260 screens, including equipment LG Hospitality SmartTV, which are managed by ArtioGuest. These are found in the student rooms and common lounges., eliminating the need for decoders and, therefore, reduces the number of moving parts to manage and maintain. The IPTV system available throughout the site shows more than 50 television and radio channels, including a selection of local free-to-air stations, as well as international satellite television channels in several languages.

The goal was to create a system that was reliable and easy to use. “Exterity ArtioGuest infotainment software can be updated regularly, so the tools had to be easy to use. “We have worked with Exterity on projects and it was clear to us that they would offer a perfect combination”, comments David Nicol, general manager of Interactive Solutions.

The system also has an emergency notification capability that can remotely turn on televisions in each room and common area to display urgent messages or videos.. During the COVID-19 pandemic, ArtioGuest's ability to share information remotely across screens became more critical.

To streamline system configuration and administration, Exterity AvediaPlayer r9305 media players are used to stream TV and video in both the gym and the cinema.

The spacious site has its own studio and social building where the gym and cinema are located, a rooftop and private study areas. With capacity for almost 400 students, Each en-suite room is equipped with WiFi and modern in-room media capabilities that are designed to entertain and inform your international students.
