Visionary brings AV solutions to Shanghai's tallest building

Located in a skyscraper 632 meters high and 128 flats, the luxurious J Hotel Shanghai Tower has incorporated PacketAV matrices in versatile meeting rooms and different common areas.

Located in the Lujiazui business district, Shanghai Tower is the second tallest building in the world, con 632 meters high and 128 flats. Inside this skyscraper is the Inside the Shanghai Tower is the J Hotel, luxury accommodation with 240 Rooms spanning many of the skyscraper's highest floors.

This is the centerpiece of the impressive Shanghai Tower and no detail was overlooked in its design, including technology integration.

PCI China was selected to design and integrate technology in the different meeting spaces of the J Hotel. “Because the Tower is a monumental and characteristic piece of Shanghai architecture, It was necessary to develop a state-of-the-art audio and video system that would respond to the client's expectations.”, comments Norman Hu, marketing manager de PCI China.

Three meeting rooms have been designed, two ballrooms and other common areas. “The Shanghai Tower had a Gigabit network infrastructure, so we needed a flexible video solution, capable of operating with standard network cabling. We select the PacketAV matrices from Visionary for its resistance, reliability and price. Adjusted to the specific needs of the client”.

Each room was created as a large room, with the ability to be divided into two smaller spaces, independent and multifunctional for business meetings, conferences, weddings and other activities.

“The J Hotel's ballrooms are designed to be rented for various activities. A flexible, high-quality video matrix with ultra-low latency was a necessary solution”, explains Hu. “We incorporate Visionary's PacketAV array series encoders and decoders to provide a scalable solution, based on the change in the design of the rooms for the different functions of the events. Each Led video wall has four PacketAV D4100 decoders that allow up to four separate images or a single large image. And an extra one was provided to ensure that the space can be flexibly expanded with a video display output”.

The J Hotel's meeting rooms also required an easy-to-use Byod solution that would not take up unnecessary space within the room..

“We include six PacketAV E4100 encoders and three D4100 decoders to provide an easy-to-use Byos solution.”, Hu continues.. “The little one, but powerful design of the PacketAV Matrix Series allowed these solutions to be located behind the video screen and under desks to save installation space. With the PoE power supply of PacketAV arrays, no complex wiring that consumes additional space, only one cable connected to the switch”.

Visionary's PacketAV series is designed for standard network infrastructure, allowing PCI China to create a scalable solution for the J Hotel. Besides, Integrates with other solutions to eliminate unnecessary downtime for programming and control.

“We paired them with the Q-SYS system from LLC for a perfect audio solution. PacketAV arrays support HDMI audio and transmit it directly to the Q-SYS system for processing over the network. The end user has an easy-to-use video and audio solution using a single output to an HDMI, while eliminating unnecessary audio cables”.
