The specialist in outdoor sound systems and large format screen video, Southwest Building Systems (SBS), has been in charge of updating the audiovisual experience in the Veterans Memorial Stadium, a facility with capacity for 4.400 people located in Austin (Texas).

The timing of the project gave the SBS Development manager, Brent Thornhill, the opportunity to use the new Dynacord MXE5 matrix mixing engine to drive an infrastructure consisting of weather-resistant loudspeakers from Electro-Voice with amplifiers Dynacord. Dynacord's intuitive Sonicue sound system software was used to set up and adjust the main PA.

Electro Voice en Veterans Memorial Stadium“This project was part of a major improvement throughout the stadium”, dice Thornhill, who oversaw the design and installation of Southwest Building Systems. “It also gave us the opportunity to do the first installation in North America to use the new MXE5”.

Flanking the big video scoreboard, that lies beyond the end zone, There are two sets of eight XLD291 line-array speakers, each of them covers the stands along a lateral line. Besides, a set of four Electro-Voice X12i-128 dual 18" subwoofers″ is mounted on a platform in cardioid configuration, focusing low frequency coverage throughout the stadium.

All end zone speakers are weather protected, with an IP55 rating against dust and water.

Three Dynacord IPX10 amplifiers:4 they power the arrays and an IPX20:4 takes care of the subwoofer stack. The amplifiers are mounted in the video control room rack with the network switches and the MXE5.

The MXE5 is an array of 24×24 con 12 analog mic/line inputs, eight line outputs and 24 Dante audio channels.

Plus full integration with Sonicue sound system software, The MXE5's advanced feature set provides professional audio mixing and routing capabilities, along with system-wide control and monitoring for a wide range of applications.

With a processing power of 96 kHz, SNR and THD specifications and the lowest latency in the industry, Every detail of the MXE5 is designed to deliver the highest audio quality.

In addition to full support for the MXE5 matrix mixing engine as a zone mixer 24 canales, Sonicue makes it easy to create advanced tasks for monitoring, system monitoring and control.

System installers can use Sonicue to design standalone custom control applications that will run on Windows PCs or the new Dynacord TPC-1 touchpad controller, which has a high definition screen 5,7 inches.

TPC-1 at Del Valle Stadium is located in the press box, providing easy access to change system power status, presets, sources of entry and profits.

The stadium announcer's desk is equipped with an Electro-Voice PC Desktop-12 gooseneck microphone from the PolarChoice series. Two Electro-Voice RE3 wireless systems are deployed, one with a switch-enabled headset referee system and the other a handheld microphone with ND86 capsule for speech and vocals.

Other products from the Bosch Communications Systems portfolio complete the rest of the system needs. To meet ADA accessibility requirements, a Telex SoundMate hearing aid system was specified, Equipped with rechargeable packs and a choice of SCB-1 or NLS4 headphones, an inductive neck loop for use with hearing aids.

The stadium video control room has an EVID-C6.2 ceiling speaker as a trusted monitor, and the production team uses an RTS BTR-800 intercom system.
“There are a lot of moving parts in creating a good stadium audio system”, agrega Thornhill, “but Sonicue software with the new MXE5 digital matrix made it easier to offer a sophisticated solution with great sound”.
