Christie takes his 4K laser projection to the USC School of Medicine

The auditorium of this faculty of the University of Santiago de Compostela (Usc) it now has a power of 10.000 projection lumens with the model Christie 4K10-HS, supplied by Charmex and composed of Spica.

As part of the project to renovate the AV systems of the assembly hall of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the University of Santiago de Compostela (Usc), carried out by the integration company of Vigo Spica, a computer has been installed Christie 4K10-HS, a powerful projector 1DLP laser, resolution 4K UHD and 10.000 Lumens, used to display medical images at trainings and conferences.

With its more than five hundred years of academic activity, the USC is also the one with the greatest tradition in Galicia and one of the oldest in the world, reconocida actualmente como ‘Campus de Excelencia Internacional’.

In this environment of academic excellence, the Faculty of Medicine of the USC is also a reference, both at the teaching and historical level (the teaching of medicine at this university has its origins in the year 1648).

"The intention of THE USC was to completely renovate the assembly hall of this faculty so that it would become a showcase of the center, both aesthetically and technologically", Explains Thomas Alonso, Spica Account Manager, company responsible for the design and engineering of the entire project, which has included the installation of four robotic cameras, an audiovisual control solution Kramer with matrix of 8×8 4K60, a wireless discussion system and columns line array audio.

The auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine is used to teach classes, professional congresses and institutional events. "We were looking for a high luminosity laser projector, 4K resolution and that adapted to the specific needs of medical image viewing -adds Alonso-. In addition, the 4K10-HS model features Dicom, a simulation mode for viewing medical images, and with technology BoldColor of Christie, since accuracy in color reproduction was very important".

The choice of a projection equipment with 4K resolution responds to that “the university wanted as big a screen as possible (in this case you have 6 M. width) and resolution was an important factor, since the projected medical images needed to be as real as possible".

The Projector Christie 4K10-HS allows the transport of video 4K@60Hz with a single HDMI cable or Display Port, simplifying installation and routing. In addition, incorporates the software Twist for warping and blending and supports Mystique, a camera-based alignment software, from this manufacturer.
