As one of the most important facilities in Japan and one of the venues in the Olympic Games that are being held in Tokyo, the Yokohama Stadium, with the capacity to 15.000 seats, it is mainly used as a field for the baseball team Yokohama DeNA, as well as for concerts and other events.

Yokohama Stadium RFC audioAfter a complete renovation that began just over a year ago, this sports venue was selected as the venue for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games 2020, that were postponed until this year and that today celebrates the opening ceremony.

While stadium promoters added additional seating, with which the number of places has increased to just over 34.000, the restrictions that the country has make them necessary as the official headquarters of the baseball competitions of the Olympic Games.

In this renovation, the audio system has focused on the speakers of the multinational Rcf, which in turn serves to public address system and voice alarm (PAY) in case of any incident.

The main systems, consisting of two TTL 33-WP four-matrix arrays each, are placed on six light poles around the stadium (with a total of 48 Speakers). The soundbars have been fixed on custom-built titanium brackets.

Yokohama Stadium features expanded seating on each side, with four P4228 placed on the top edge of the left wing and five units on the right. In addition, nine computers have been installed P3108 and a P4228, located under the balcony to cover the seats behind the plate, to which is added a P2110-T and another P8015-E to cover the bench.

“In the renovation of Yokohama Stadium, our mission was to achieve both excellent quality for entertainment as a baseball stadium and clarity as a broadcasting facility," explains Taketoshi Kobayashi., chief engineer of the integrator Onkyo Tokki-. The TTL 33-WP and other RCF speakers were essential for maintaining sound clarity., without losing the volume of the lower part of the spectrum, contrary to what happens when the volume is lost in the low frequency by prioritizing clarity, something you often see in outdoor installations”.

Yokohama Stadium RFC audioOne of the advantages of RCF systems has been, as stated by this person in charge, “its intelligibility. It is perfect for the size and shape of the installation thanks to its innovative design, the ease of adjustment of the speaker, orientation and balance of levels. in particular, the sound coming from the opposite side of the field is well controlled. Currently there are many sports facilities with arrays linear installed, and here the sound is very well controlled, which contributes to improving its clarity and quality”.
