European Fisheries Control Agency

Video conferencing and business collaboration solutions from Pexip allow the European Fisheries Control Agency meet on video securely, overcoming all distances.

Based in the Galician city of Vigo, the European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA, for its acronym in English) has adopted the solution Infinity of videoconferencing infrastructure of Pexip, that can be deployed to replace existing infrastructure or integrated with existing technology to optimize your video conferencing capabilities across all hardware and software platforms.

EFCA controls fishing activities in several maritime areas of Europe. To keep your efforts coordinated, meetings are held every week for the six steering groups and six deployment groups operating throughout the European Union.

Although these are small groups (from one to fifteen people), the agency needed a reliable solution to hold its video meetings with all the guarantees.

EFCA was one of the first EU agencies to adopt Microsoft Teams, and many of his contacts had Skype for Business. One of the concerns of those responsible was that if they added more technological tools this could confuse users, internal and external, and were looking for a solution that could streamline their current communications ecosystem.

Plus high-quality audio and video, Pexip delivers reliable cloud video interoperability, for both internal users and guests. The solution serves as a gateway for EFCA's communications infrastructure, primarily to support Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business and WebRTC, thanks to which all users can maintain their existing tools and workflows.

El sistema de Pexip ofrece múltiples formas de integración, ya sea con un producto existente o utilizado de forma independiente”, Says Christine Simm, EFCA ICT Administrator.

Finding the best balance between security and flexibility has also been a fundamental criterion for the agency.. Their meeting rooms usually include representatives of the Member States in very diverse and highly secure environments., where there are certain telephone and browsing restrictions, and they also need easy access from different devices and services without compromising security.

In this sense, the Pexip approach, focused on security, ensures that sensitive information does not leave the agency. “Como alojamos Pexip en nuestras instalaciones para conectarlo con nuestro gateway de Teams cumplimos automáticamente con la normativa de protección de datos, a concern for some high-level meetings, ya que los datos permanecen aquí”, explains Simm.

As he points out Manuel Almodóvar, channel saler manager Iberia of Pexip, "Infinity is designed from the ground up to be a flexible meeting platform., interoperable and, above all, scalable. Can be deployed on a multitude of platforms, from an organization's data center to a private or public cloud, or run on Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform".
