Powersoft brings fans closer to the action at Texas Q2 Stadium
The acoustic designer Idibri has taken advantage of the innovative design and acoustics of the Q2 stage, seat of the Austin FC, to install more than fifty amplifiers Powersoft Mezzo, Ottocanali and X series.
More than fifty amplifiers from the manufacturer Powersoft are powering a high-impact audio installation in the Q2 stage, the new home of Austin's first professional sports team (Texas - EE.UU.), whose construction was completed last year and designed to accommodate 20.500 fans on match day, although it is also used for other activities.
According to Idibri, a company of Salas O’brien and the consultant who designed the audio, the acoustics, the video and computing of the new venue, “Q2 is a 3.0 stadium”, that is to say, a venue equipped with the latest technology to improve the public experience both in its main function as a sports venue, as well as during other different events.
Precisely to improve the event experience, the architecture firm Executioner designed a large acoustic resonance marquee that, as well as keeping fans cool and dry, amplifies the excitement and roar of the crowd on game or concert day.
To deliver a quality audio experience, Ben Boeshans, by Idibri, designed the Q2's sound system around the amplifiers Mezzo, Ottocanali and the X series de Powersoft, in order to manage a distributed system that is carefully planned to meet the client's brief for “clear and impactful audio”.
Specifically, pass Ottocanali 12K4 DSP+D and six of the model 4K4 DSP+D drive the main speakers, which are hung from the main roof structure, and leftover channels feed audio into stadium concourse areas.
“Ottocanali platforms offer adequate power for loudspeakers: The density of eight channels/2 RU with Dante and its compatibility make them ideal”, assures Boeshans.
Four X8 and two X4 X Series amplifiers power the stadium subwoofers, At the same time, Idibri has strategically distributed and hidden twenty-seven compact Powersoft amplifiers throughout the stadium. Half AD to feed the spaces premium.
“The Mezzo AD amplifiers act as matrices for the Dante sources of the entire installation and the local analog inputs so that users can select their preferred audio source in each space”, explains this person in charge.
Added to this is the associated reduction in audio wiring to/from each space., “which has been an efficient cost-saving approach to providing discrete stereo amplification in each room for personalized experiences for each user”.
Los 52 amplifiers are paired with speakers Fulcrum Acoustic, and connected via Dante to a DSP Q-SYS of LLC and to a console Yamaha QL, a system was installed by Clair Global.
All Powersoft systems integrate Class D amplification technology, allowing for an extremely dense amplifier package, which in turn saves rack space.
Besides, Ottocanali amplifiers are integrated into the stadium's public address/voice alarm system. Both these models and the X series have extensive monitoring capabilities, including live impedance and redundant outputs, ideal for these applications where the ability to send clear and intelligible messages is essential.
The Idibri team also made use of system design software HarmonyPlus from Powersoft to provide support and get the most out of the system with live sound reinforcement, playing music and commercial and evacuation messages.
