SNA Displays a Moody Center

The installation carried out in the lobby shows a Led screen with audio and motion response. It has been designed with a Bold interior solution of SNA Displays.

Moody Center is a new entertainment venue with more than 15.000 seats located on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin. Inaugurated last April, hosts concerts, Longhorns men's and women's basketball games, family events and much more.

The global architecture studio Executioner designed the place, which has an exterior glass façade 360 degrees, a huge canopy to provide shade and a variety of dynamic elements to attract and immerse visitors.

One of those items is a custom-made piece of digital art by Design Communications (DCL) with Led video technology from SNA Displays. The display wall, located in the northwest quadrant of Dell Concourse, was the result of a design-build collaboration with Gensler's DXD team in Austin.

DCL first designed and prototyped large sections of the exhibition wall to solve a layered assembly of light deflectors, CNC-cut acrylic diffuser and sheet metal panels to achieve the look desired by the design team.

“Taking into account the narrow configuration of the holes cut in the veneer panels, “SNA Displays’ full-array LED video modules were specified instead of individual LED discs because they allowed for infinite versatility in creating content scenarios that aligned with the decorative pattern.”, comment Jeff Grantz, director of creative technologies at DCL.

DCL design team coordinated with SNA Displays to provide custom mounting structure for the Led cabinets to maximize the artistic diffusion effect.

Lobby facility features indoor video screen SNA Displays Bold. With a pixel pitch of 10 mm, a resolution of 288×2.016 and a surface of 625 square meters, This video wall is part of an interactive design that incorporates audio and reacts to visitors' movements.

“A challenge that the project presented was integrating the set of infrared cameras within the wall itself”, says Grantz. “These cameras were used to detect the movements of people in front of the screen, which allowed the Gensler team to develop a variety of gesture animations that help activate the space and engage visitors.”.

for the project, SNA Displays customized the grid panels so that the installation's perforated cover could be mounted in front of the Led face with a perfect fit.
