Powersoft brings high-quality sound to San Diego nightlife
For the hotel lounge The Pendry a system of 24 amplification channels Powersoft integrated into three Ottocanali 8k8 rack units, consuming only six rack units.
Montage Hotel Group wanted his flagship hotel, newly built in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, The Pendry, offer great AV facility. They turned to the executive director of Clique Hospitality Group, Andy Masi, who together with John Lyons, collaborator and veteran of the nightclub industry, designed the sound system for the hotel lounge, Oxford Social Club.
Lyons looked to the compact power of amplification Powersoft a system solution that is hidden from sight but heard throughout the space.
“It is designed as a sophisticated, high-end lounge with many comfortable seats, but I knew I needed power. So I specified a system that could give me the power and clarity needed for serious dancing.", explains Lyons.
However, the limitations of physical space had to be overcome to achieve balance.. “Since it was going to be built from scratch, “I made sure to design a sound system for much of the ceilings.”.
With physical space both in the living room and in its first-level rack room, Lyons opted for Powersoft amplifiers Ottocanali that drive the speakers Fulcrum Acoustic for a high impact, low footprint sound solution.
“Every time I do a project, I try to identify the teams that best adapt”, explains. "In this case, we wanted a high power and fidelity sound, but we didn't want to take up too much visual space. We also had a relatively modest amount of rack space available for amplifiers.. Powersoft and Fulcrum were the clear choice”.
Lyons designed a system that included 24 Powersoft amplification channels in three rack units Octochannel 8k8, consuming only six rack units in the club's small rack room.
“It is the equivalent of having a rack of 12 amplifiers”, signal Lyons. These amplifiers drive eight Fulcrum Acoustics coaxial loudspeakers. 15 inches and eight dual 15” subwoofers, as well as additional smaller side zone speakers located near the entrance and bathrooms.
The main ones were placed inside the ceilings, around the room, while the subwoofers were hidden in the existing columns and joinery.
“We hid the speakers well so we could get even coverage throughout the space.,or without dampening the visual impact of the room”, Lyons adds..
The Ottocanali amplifiers were up to the task of driving the entire speaker system with power to spare.
Powersoft amplifiers made powering the rack a breeze. “Since it was a new construction, we were able to design and build our power, “But with Powersoft amplifiers it was simply a matter of linking our main power to our rack.”.
