The immersive experience 'Mythos Mozart' relies on AV Stumpfl technology
The integrator PKE Electronics have chosen Pixera media servers from BY Stumpfl for the realization of a spectacular immersive experience about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in Vienna.
When the work of a successful artist continues to gain relevance and inspire even hundreds of years after his death, has become a myth. With that vision, the new exhibition Mythos Mozart, located in the heart of Vienna (Austria), offers visitors an immersive tour to learn about the life and work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
“Mythos Mozart connects tradition with modernity; art and music; “Creativity with technology creating a new space for innovation and culture to honor Mozart in a way never seen before.”, explains Hans Gasser, general director of this exhibition.
Located precisely in the same place where the composer, born in 1756, spent the last year of his life creating unforgettable masterpieces such as The magic flute, the exhibition Mythos Mozart occupies an area of 1.500 m2 and consists of five different rooms (Mozart's world), each with a different access point to their work and legacy.
Each visitor has at their entrance a unique QR code and at the entrance a photo is taken to start this audiovisual tour, which almost instantly becomes a 3D digital portrait. The first stop is Requiem – Mozart's death, a mysterious room created by the British-German designer Moritz Waldemeyer and illuminated by 1.500 candles.
Later, visitors enter the room One 1791 – Mozart's city, where the 360º projections They immerse you in a beautiful tour of the Austrian capital in which urban landscapes are combined with a balloon ride.
The third room, world music – Mozart's little night music, It has numerous interactive elements so that visitors themselves can select the instrument with which they want to accompany the performance. A little Night Music of the composer.
The overall soundscape, essential for the overall exhibition experience, has been composed and organized by the musical director of Mythos Mozart, Walter Werzowa. The composer's original compositions were re-recorded by the students of the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts (MDW), within the framework of an exclusive collaboration.
Internationally renowned artists, as Rolando Villazón, Elise Caluwaerts and Alexey Igudesman act as ambassadors of the project and share the fascination with Mozart and the innovative approach of this exhibition to make his work accessible to the general public.
Genius – Mozart Composing, the fourth room, allows visitors to enter the creative mind of the Austrian composer in the form of thousands of synaptic connections, framed by light and music.
For the last room of the exhibition, the new media artist Refik Anadol has used the technology of artificial intelligence and millions of data points to create The magic flute – Mozart forever, an evocative world of fantastic images.
The music and digital media expert Christoph Widauer, has been responsible for the general concept, the dramatic structure, the compilation of the contents and the general realization of Mythos Mozart.
The Austrian company PKE Electronics assumed the role of provider of technical services and installation, con Martin Nikendei as project manager. To live up to the exhibition's high expectations of music and sound quality, a total of three hundred speakers have been deployed., located on the roof, the wall and on the floor.

Mythos Mozart uses multiple main audio sources in the form of six Mac Minis with software QLab, controlled through general AV settings to start the right audio tracks at the right time. Two of the exhibition rooms have active acoustics of Amadeus Acoustics.

Due to space limitations, are mainly used ultra short throw lenses (UST), plus some standard focal lengths. A total of six deflection mirrors convert the floor of one of the exhibition halls into an additional projection surface.
