A Scrooge (Denmark) is found Regan Vest, a museum that explores the geopolitical tensions of the Cold War, that takes a detailed and informative look at a conflict that lasted more than four decades. in this space, Tells the story in a newly built exhibition space that is equipped with a audio integral de Genelec.
“We wanted to create an exhibition in which the audiovisual elements supported the narrative in a very subtle way.”, explains Tue Selmer Friborg from Taintec, audiovisual consultant who worked on the project. “The sound had to offer visitors an immersive element and at the same time be discreet. The objective was to have an exhibition that, although complex, required the least maintenance possible”.
The museum is made up of three parts; a secret bunker 5.500 square meters hidden 60 meters underground, taking visitors to the heart of the Cold War with its pristine artifacts and original decor; the master machinist's house, allowing visitors to experience what everyday life was like; and the newly built exhibition space that tells the story of political tensions and how Denmark prepared for a nuclear attack.
This last space is where the Genelec system is installed., and Friborg specifies a solution that is based on the series speakers 4000, complemented with technology subwoofer 7050. Performance and adaptability made the models an ideal choice for the discreet but high-quality audio that the exhibition required.. Genelec was chosen for its sound quality, as well as its durability, five year warranty, versatility and different size options.
“The built-in amplifiers allowed for very easy installation and the low power consumption provided by the intelligent signal detection technology.” (ISS) Genelec means no turning amplifiers on and off. I like to build systems with as few types of hardware as possible because it makes setup time and maintenance easier., and the customer does not need to have a large stock of different spare parts. Genelec's commitment to sustainability also influenced my choice”, adds Friborg.
The system consists of seven speakers 4030, cinco 4020 , four 4010 and a subwoofer 7050. They are all responsible for providing the atmospheric soundscapes that bring the exhibition to life.. When the guests enter, quadraphonic surround sound is used to emphasize the two opposing sides, and in another room, there is a replica of a nuclear explosion, featuring intense flashing lights, an explosion from Genelec speakers and a Danish television broadcast of the attack.
Besides, several old televisions and radios play historical clips from the era, which are reproduced by the ultra-compact speakers 4010 de Genelec. The system is controlled by networked media players from BrightSign, so sound levels and playback triggers are handled over the network.
Since its opening, Regan Vest has become one of the most interesting new museum projects in Denmark. By placing visitors in a bunker once used to protect the government from a nuclear attack, the boundaries of a traditional attraction have been redefined, enhancing the experience with a new exhibition space that relies on clear and intelligible audio from Genelec.
