Audiologic and GVAV optimize learning environments at Pembroke House
In this installation, belonging to the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, GVAV y Audiologic have specified an installation based on Sennheiser audio solutions, Q-SYS control system and Aver tracking cameras.
Initially hired as consultants, GVAV has been the company responsible for the integration of the project Pembroke House. In collaboration with Audiologic, a wide range of equipment was specified Q-SYS y Sennheiser for implementation in different spaces.
The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), the first institution in the world dedicated to the research and teaching of tropical medicine, has undertaken an important project to expand its teaching and event organizing capabilities. Pembroke House was built for this purpose., a mixed-use facility with three main teaching spaces along with small gathering areas and group collaboration zones.
The Audiologic team was hired to help confirm the final designs of the audio solution, in addition to the programming and implementation of this aspect of the project. Due to the complexity of the rooms and project requirements, the integration of beamforming microphones and the Q-SYS system was necessary.
Each of the three teaching spaces had different acoustic and design requirements, tailored to your specific function, but the entire space demanded an intuitive and cohesive feel and user experience throughout the venue.
Facilitating hybrid teaching was essential, as both local and remote teachers and guest speakers were accommodated. This is a step beyond hybrid and remote learning, with the possibility of teaching distance classes. Audiologic provided valuable information on future-proof camera and audio tracking solutions to meet these ever-evolving educational needs..
“We turned to Ben at Audiologic to give us ideas and help us refine product options. We agreed from the beginning that Q-SYS was the best means of processing microphone data, control cameras and system peripherals. We look at different tracking array microphones and, given the deeper integration of Sennheiser TCC2 con Q-SYS, “We decided this was the best microphone option for both audio quality and tracking performance.”, comment Dan Victory, technical director of the GVAV group.
The audio DSP Q-SYS Core 8 Flex manages Dante audio, AES67 and analog, also taking advantage of the power of its control platform. ACPR allows connection to Sennheiser microphones, Direct presets on AVer cameras and change video routing on AVoIP system.
The Q-SYS ecosystem used different scenarios to manage the individual requirements of each space, with processing capabilities that controlled camera automation based on microphone audio positions. They were used PTZ cameras with AI auto tracking PTC330 of AVer for monitoring and PTZ330 cameras for general recording.
The system allows you to track any user without the need for training: camera tracking is carried out on both the audience and the lecturer, depending on who is talking.
“We carried out an initial pilot test of the tracking system in the first room, Learn 1, and we left it for a few weeks to test and adapt it. Then, We made some adjustments following feedback from end users, before implementing the same configuration in Learn spaces 2 y 3 with an adjusted programming for each space and scenario”, agrega Victory.
Thomas Cullen, director de AV en LSTM, praise the work done. “GVAV's technical expertise and foresight led to the recommendation of Q-SYS and TCC2 for optimal audio capture and automatic camera switching. His technical director played a fundamental role, providing invaluable knowledge and guidance, significantly improving the experience of our AV team”.
From design and installation to system adjustment and commissioning, Audiologic's contribution provided the best final result for all users.
Looking to the future, LSTM plans to implement this integration in all its facilities, both in the UK and abroad, which underlines the success and scalability of the project.
