Sharpy X Frame Hybrid Moving Head Claypacks responds to bright lighting needs, dynamic aerial effects and precise framing in many installations, as has been demonstrated since its debut on the market.
Lightweight and compact design, he Sharpy X Frame hybrid projector of Claypacks incorporates a powerful arc lamp 550 watts that provides vivid and uniform colors, including an unmatched intense red, and high performance in a versatile and portable device.
How do you explain Giovanni Zucchinali, Project support en Claypaky, “Hybrid projectors are a type of luminaire in which LED light sources have not yet matched the performance of arc lamps.”. When we decided to develop this model, We chose to upgrade an arc lamp powered luminaire with all the most advanced technologies our industry could offer in terms of optical characteristics, effects, color production and beam shaping.
Sharpy X Frame is a luminaire with multiple possibilities that offers the necessary flexibility to achieve ideal lighting in any scenario. Alberico D'amato, Claypaky commercial director, points out that “Sharpy X Frame combines the features of a projector with a powerful and uniform beam; a moving beam light with another ultra-focused penetrator; a versatile and precise beamformer and, when necessary, “a wash light”.
This hybrid and versatile luminaire “performs each of these functions without compromise,” he adds.. Its wide effects, color production system, lightweight design, “Compact size and excellent quality-price ratio have quickly made it one of the most innovative and requested lights by professionals in our sector.”.
In this sense, Sharpy X Frame started making news a few years ago, shortly after its market debut, when the lighting designer Mario Catapano used 120 units as key lighting in the Eurovision Song Contest celebrated in 2022, in the Italian city of Turin, as part of a larger team of around four hundred Claypaky luminaries.
The show went so well that, the following year, the lighting designer Tim Routledge used 194 Claypaky Sharpy-X-Frames at Liverpool Arena: “were used in the main architectural aspect of the show, with enormous stage arms that extended towards the audience like a 'hug' to the world".

That same year, The Sharpy X Frame were widely used by lighting designer Durham Marenghi during the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
“It is the most versatile and compact hybrid luminaire on the market that meets the needs of a bright spot; an air effects unit, a framing luminaire and everything else in an affordable and compact package”, assures Marengui.
Thanks to the versatility and success of the luminaire, Claypaky decided to expand the range with the model Sharpy X Frame FD, designed specifically for the broadcast environment. This version features gobos equipped with a lighter magenta filter, camera friendly, and a light frost filter for soft edge effects, along with a framing system, which has made it a favorite of television lighting designers.
The show's lighting designer Raffa in the sky, Alessandro Anderoli, recalls that “Sharpy. Discharge lights served this purpose exceptionally well.. The possibility of giving them shape made that part of the stage illuminate in a unique way”.
In 2024, Sharpy X Frames have used, among other shows, at the concert of Ed Sheeran in India and for the performance of the local artist Ishal Mishra, as well as on the world tour of the four-time Grammy winner Gary Clark Jr., and in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, where they settled 205 Claypaky hybrid models.
With this baggage, Sharpy X Frame has become the favorite hybrid moving head of many lighting designers, rental companies and international productions, consolidating its global success and, as Claypaky points out, there are new developments on the horizon.
