Hong Kong cultural center prepares for the future with L-Acoustics
The team at Rightway Audio Consultants has designed and installed an immersive and immersive audio system in the Hong Kong cultural center theater using Kara II and X Series solutions from L-Acoustics.
The emblematic Hong Kong cultural center has introduced a system of L-ISA immersive audio by L-Acoustics in his Grand Theater, which marks an important advance in the acoustic capabilities of the venue.
Inaugurated in 1989, The Grand Theater has been built with three levels and capacity for 1.743 personas, becoming the cornerstone of the city's cultural panorama as it hosts a wide variety of shows, from concerts and operas to dance shows and film screenings.
Faced with the challenge of maintaining its status as a world-class venue and attracting top-level productions, I needed a sound system that could offer optimal audio quality, while also having to address the acoustic characteristics of this historic space. The solution came through L-Acoustics' L-ISA immersive audio technology., which promised to revolutionize the audience experience and future-proof the venue for years to come.
In the last three decades, the HKCC has hosted the Hong Kong Film Awards Ceremony and musical classics such as The Phantom of the Opera y The miserable ones. “The Grand Theater needs the most modern facilities to present a range of first-class productions and the best of the country's performing arts”, explains Charles Chan, Business Development Director, Hong Kong Office Rightway Audio Consultants (RAC). “With surround sound technology from L-Acoustics, The center will be prepared for the future”.
Using the Soundvision 3D modeling software de L-Acoustics, the RAC team simulated coverage and sound pressure level to create an ideal L-ISA immersive audio setup. This approach not only ensured excellent coverage, but also maximized the potential of each speaker in the L-ISA configuration, providing unmatched immersive sound.
RAC installed a L-ISA Wide configuration starting with a five-hanger scene system of eight L-Acoustics Kara IIi each, with two of 10 Kara IIi per side for extension. Low-end definition is provided by two hangers suspended in the center of three KS28. Eight 5XTs embedded along the edge of the stage, provide spatial frontal padding. Three sets of Kiva IIs are used for delay.
The surround system for the ground floor is provided by X8 while the balcony uses a 5XT. on stage, artists receive X12 cabinet monitoring. The entire system is driven by LA12X amplified drivers, LA4X and LA2Xi and an L-ISA II processor operating over a Milan-AVB network.
With this audio improvement, Hong Kong cultural center's Grand Theater set to deliver immersive audio experience, attracting a greater diversity of shows and audiences. This installation not only improves the technical capabilities of the Grand Theater, but also reinforces the cultural hub of Hong Kong's position as a premier destination for the performing arts in Asia, ensuring it remains at the forefront of audio technology in the region.
