Iconic nightclub Fabric London has unveiled the long-awaited upgrade to its venue's Bodykinetic dance floor 1, which marks the final stage of their project to renovate the sound system of this space. Completing a renovation that began in 2024 as part of the extensive celebrations “fabric25” of the club, and which represents the first update of the track since it opened in 1999, presents 36 units of the innovative Powersoft Mover moving magnet transducer, that reinvents the way audiences connect with sound and vibration.

“The original sound design for the Hall 1 featured an innovative and advanced dance floor, which incorporated Bodysonic transducers. These resonated on the floor with silent subharmonics that traveled through the body.”, remember Matt Smith, fabric technical manager London. “Combined with a quadraphonic speaker setup and flawless audio processing from the DJ booth, the system was ahead of its time. Keith Reilly and Dave Parry established themselves with the cutting-edge club design they introduced ago 25 years. Faithful to our heritage, we chose to modernize and refine the original system rather than completely replace it. We knew that the room's sound system 1 recently remodeled wouldn't be complete without also updating the track. We have worked tirelessly to make this happen”.

Unlike the moving coil transducers traditional, where a copper coil moves within a magnetic field, Move reverses this process, with the magnet moving inside the coils.

This design offers several key benefits: greater power and reliability, reduced reliance on fragile copper coils and improved haptic feedback through inertial drive configuration. Due to these characteristics, Mover benefits from inherent high efficiency, which requires less power than traditional transducers and increases energy saving benefits for fabric.

Compared to a traditional subwoofer installation, Move also offers a reduction in 50% in noise pollution.

The new system offers a much more powerful and immersive touch experience, with improved haptic feedback that makes the sound sensation more pronounced and engaging. Movers provide more reliable performance, ensuring the dance floor feels constantly responsive and smooth, while the sound and the feel, cleaner and clearer, allow dancers to connect with music on a deeper level.

Another important advantage of the new track is its ability to improve accessibility for people with hearing disabilities.. By transforming sound into vibrations that can be felt through the body, the new Bodysonic floor ensures a more inclusive experience, allowing everyone to engage with the music on a deeply physical level.

Fabric is working with Deaf Rave to adjust the Powersoft floor for an optimal experience for members of the deaf community.

“By adopting Powersoft Mover technology, “Fabric London has taken a significant step towards a more energy efficient future without compromising the inclusive and immersive experience the club has long been known for.”, explains Cristiano Traferri, Powersoft internal accounts manager. “The drastically reduced energy consumption of the new system aligns perfectly with the club's avant-garde spirit, which shows that sustainability and high performance can go hand in hand”.

The new Bodykinetic dance floor, equipped with Move, officially opened to the public on Saturday 18 January and is already fully operational in the Hall 1. A collaboration between Fabric London and Mastery Quantum Sound, an event concept that plays with the limits of sound such as meditation and live electronic music, makes Quantum become the club's official sound meditation partner and its presence extends until next June.
