Ayrton signs the lighting of the musical 'The Pillars of the Earth' in Madrid
With lighting design Felipe Ramos and Juanjo Beloqui, The musical adaptation of this novel by Ken Follet has shone on stage, equipped with a wide range of luminaires Ayrton, supplied by Stonex.
After a successful season in Madrid's theater programming, in it EDP Gran Vía theater, the musical adaptation of The pillars of the earth has had the production of Beon Entertainment, combining in perfect synchronization the scenery, music and light to transport the viewer to a Middle Ages full of emotion and stage magic.
Light has been one of the great protagonists of the show. The lighting design, in charge of Felipe Ramos y Juanjo Beloqui, has built environments as rich as they are varied: from gloomy interiors and gothic cathedrals to daytime markets, dungeons and great medieval halls.
To achieve this, they have had a wide range of lighting fixtures. Ayrton, brand that sells Stonex in Spain, selected for their power, versatility and reliability for this production.
“We were looking for dark lighting, very contrasted and at the same time pictorial. Caravaggio was one of our great references -explains Felipe Ramos-. “We had to support the narrative and help the audience situate themselves in each jump in time or scene”.
Among the models used for stage lighting are Euro, Diablo, Rival Profile and Wash, Zonda 3, Karif, Argo 6 Wash, Bora and Levante. Cuts have also been integrated ETC Source Four and decorative material to reinforce the environments of the work. All designed to work in harmony with a tracking system that required precision, motorized agility and great reliability.
“From the beginning we knew that we wanted a powerful team, versatile, with good CRI and compact size, why The scenery is immense and takes up the entire stage.. Ayrton offered us all that and more, without going over budget”, Ramos emphasizes.
The designers have highlighted the luminaires that have achieved technical applause, like the heck, due to its small size and its power to simulate light entry through windows; Rival Profile, compact equipment, with excellent high light output and chromatic fidelity; Zonda 3, that have been integrated into spaces in the decoration, y Bora and Karif, for specific scenes that required power and gobo cropping.
As Juanjo Beloqui points out, “Each type of focus provided a different quality. It has been a very versatile design, effective and optimized. I think the lighting has helped the audience see on stage what they imagined when reading the book.. And that is magic.".
